Italy-based restaurant Welly leverages Shiba Inu’s L2 blockchain to enhance its operations, transparency, customer engagement, and loyalty program.
According to a recent announcement, Shiba Inu and Welly have officially opened a Web3 restaurant. Dubbed Welly, the Naples-based Web3 restaurant is backed by both the Shiba Inu community and the cryptocurrency’s L2 blockchain Shibarium.
Welly Embraces Blockchain Through Shibarium
The move is part of an effort to utilize blockchain technology in the transformation of the fast food industry. Notably, Shibarium will play a vital role in managing the restaurant’s operations, including customer engagement and food-based incentives.
Per the announcement, the inaugural web3 restaurant is based in the city of Naples, Italy, with plans being made to expand its operations to various parts of the world via franchising.

It is worth noting that Welly attracted the attention of Shiba Inu’s enthusiasts following its soft launch last year. The restaurant’s menu featured burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and fries.
Interestingly, Welly has now fully embraced blockchain technology thanks to Shibarium.
Shiba Inu Team Reacts
Commenting on the development, Shiba Inu’s lead developer Shytoshi Kusama said all parts of Welly’s operations will benefit from a high-powered blockchain like Shibarium.
“We look forward to helping Welly become one of the best experiences in fast food through the ability of Shibarium to both streamline processes and incentivize every part of the fast food franchise process, connecting both franchisees and customers to the brand,” he said.
Furthermore, another development team member Stefano Guglielmini emphasized the paradigm shift that Web3 has introduced, especially in the way people collaborate.
“At Wellys, we see thousands of individuals from around the world joining us every day with the same passion and a common goal, demonstrating that the future belongs to decentralized collaboration,” he added.
Shibarium Surpasses 2.7M Transactions
It bears mentioning that Shibarium has gained widespread adoption since its mainnet launch on August 16. Despite encountering technical issues that lasted two weeks, the L2 blockchain has recorded remarkable milestones, including surpassing 2.7 million transactions.
At press time, Shibarium’s total transactions stood at 2,766,680 (2.76 million). In addition, 1,246,293 (1.24 million) wallet addresses have interacted with Shibarium so far, according to data from Shibariumscan.
