Shiba Inu Lead Celebrates Shibarium Major Milestone

Shytoshi Kusama, the enigmatic leader of the Shiba Inu project, celebrates the first anniversary of Shibarium, the cryptocurrency L2 blockchain.

According to the post, the Shiba Inu leader shared a “Happy Birthday” gif accompanied with the caption “#Shibarium.” The tweet is Kusama’s way of marking the first anniversary of Shibarium and celebrating the blockchain for achieving significant milestones just one year after its launch.

Kusama tweeted in reaction to a post from Shibarium’s official X handle, celebrating the blockchain’s first anniversary.

The X handle stated that the launch of Shibarium transitioned the dream of Shiba Inu’s pseudonymous founder, Ryoshi, into reality. It also emphasized that Shibarium, which launched in August 2023, had completed one year.

Key Shibarium Achievements

To celebrate the first anniversary of the L2 blockchain, the post highlighted Shibarium’s achievements and ongoing developments.

The team said Shibarium has successfully processed over 417 million transactions, with over 1.8 million wallets created in one year. Additionally, since its launch, Shibarium has supported a wide array of activities, ranging from smart contracts to NFT transfers.

The accompanying video highlighted other significant enhancements Shibarium has witnessed so far. This includes reducing asset withdrawal time to 45 minutes from seven days, bridging NFTs, and integrating a fiat-on-ramp service that allows users to buy BONE with credit cards on the L2 blockchain.

Furthermore, since its launch, Shibarium has completed three major hard forks: Delhi, Indore, and Shanghai. Each of these upgrades significantly enhanced Shibarium’s functionalities, including boosting the network’s overall performance and automating SHIB burns.

Other Milestones

The L2 blockchain has also welcomed new tokens into the Shiba Inu ecosystem, including K9 Finance DAO (KNINE), Bad Idea AI (BAD), and Unification (FUND). These tokens transitioned to the Shiba Inu blockchain from Ethereum through Shibarium Bridge.

Lastly, the post confirmed that the team had launched the Holchi third-party bridge on Shibarium, offering more flexibility than ever.

It bears mentioning that Shibarium achieved these feats in one year despite encountering major issues immediately after its launch on August 16, 2023.

This took the network offline for two weeks as the Shiba Inu development team worked relentlessly to scale the network in collaboration with Polygon developers.

Afterward, Shibarium relaunched on the mainnet on August 28, 2023, and has remained operational without experiencing any major downtime. At press time, Shibarium has processed 418,106,720 (418.10 million) transactions, produced 6,444,974 (6.44 million) total blocks, and facilitated the creation of 1,812,763 (1.81 million).
