Shiba Inu Community Scammed by Fake Shytoshi Kusama

The fake account of Shiba Inu (SHIB) lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, is deceiving SHIB community members.

An impostor pretending to be one of the lead developers of Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama, has scammed a sizable amount of the dog-themed community members. The perpetrator carried out this illicit act through a Twitter account identified as @ShytoshiKsusama, which is very similar to the lead developer’s official Twitter handle, @ShytoshiKusama.

Members of the Shiba Inu community who couldn’t notice the letter “s” difference between the two handles fell victim to the impostors.

According to findings, in a tweet, those behind the impersonating account lured their victims by urging them to register their wallets for private access to the Beta Launch of Shibarium.

Further, the impostor indicated that only those with SHIB, BONE, and LEASH would gain priority access to Shibarium. Also, the tweet carried a link that the impostor claimed to be Shibarium Beta Launch Registration Link.

So far, those who connected their wallets through the link have lost all the virtual assets they held.

As revealed, the link attached to the tweet connects the user’s wallet to a site that provides unwarranted access for the impostor. Yesterday, a top member of the Shiba Inu community, @theshibdream, also became a victim of the attack, losing all of his SHIB holdings.

In a tweet, Shib dream urged other community members to carefully watch every link before clicking.

Another user lost his Welly NFTs.

Difference Between Both Accounts

Insights into the difference between the real and imposing account birthed some headways that can aid Shib Army in identifying their dissimilarities.

Difference of letter “s”. The fake account is @ShytoshiKsusama, while the real one is @ShytoshiKusama.

The imposing account doesn’t have a verified blue tick, while the real account has.

Also, the former joined Twitter in June 2012 with 13.8k followers with just 25 tweets. The latter, on the other hand, created their Twitter account in January 2021, with about 902.3k followers and 6,511 tweets.
