On 25 October, Poseidon DAO announced the release of Whitepaper Draft 1.0 on Twitter. The tweet is accompanied by the mirror article Introducing Poseidon DAO, which provides an overview of the document’s contents. This release is described as the first step toward realizing the vision for the Poseidon DAO.
Poseidon DAO also announced the first initiative by the DAO, namely the launch of the Deploy Collection, a collection consisting of open editions in collaboration with different artists. The artist celebrating the launch of the DAO will be Yu Cai, and the launch is scheduled for Monday, 31 October.
Poseidon DAO and artist Yu Cai
Born in Hunan, China in 1993, Yu Cai is a digital artist with a solid artistic background. In fact, she graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of China and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Graphic Arts from the Venice Academy of Fine Arts.
She currently lives and works between Antwerp, the Netherlands, and Italy. Abandoning the paintbrush for the graphics tablet, Yu Cai began creating incredibly detailed digital works that tell contemporary stories of urban life. Her illustrations, recognizable by a distinctive bright color palette dominated by shades of blue and pink, combine futuristic settings with nostalgic Vaporwave atmospheres. A recurring theme of her research is the contrast between the chaos of the metropolis, which generates states of stress and alienation, and the need of individuals to find an alternative dimension in which to take refuge in order to re-establish inner stillness and balance.
The launch work, The Bar at The Train Station, is a digitally animated and sound illustration in the artist’s typical delicate and dreamy style. The meticulously drawn scene is set in a bar at a train station and depicts the state of mind of a girl about to leave her hometown to start a new life elsewhere, away from family and friends. At the center of the work is, once again, the analysis of feelings, the complicated intertwining of nostalgia for the past and excitement for the future that accompanies the departure to a new existential adventure.
The open edition will last 24 hours, while supplies last, with a limit of only 250 pieces available. Each piece will be accessible at a value of 0.075ETH and participants will receive DAO tokens via airdrop. As the name of the collection specifies, the goal is precisely to distribute the tokens; indeed, a large portion of the supply will go to participants.
