Poseidon DAO: the meeting with Andrea Crespi

During the AMA on 7 November, Poseidon DAO announced important news including the creation of a forum, where to interact and witness the evolution of the Spaces that will turn into a podcast. There was also talk about the second edition of the Poseidon DAO Deploy Collection, following the success of the first drop, which sold out in less than half an hour. However, neither the date nor the artist who will collaborate with Poseidon for this second limited edition has been announced yet.

The guest of the AMA this time was artist Andrea Crespi, currently exhibiting in Times Square (NY), who spoke about his background and future plans.

Andrea Crespi

Andrea, an Italian artist born in 1992, studied product design at the IED in Milan and then worked as a product designer in an advertising agency in Switzerland before entering the world of NFTs in 2020. In the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, Andrea decided to quit his old job and open his own art studio.

Right from the start, Crespi dedicated himself to finding his own artistic language that would define him and fully express his ideas. The choice of black and white lines, which characterize his works became almost obligatory: Instagram, the platform that Andrea favored for the spread of his art, very often banned his works as they were considered “sexually explicit” by the bot. The use of contrasts between the black and white lines forming the image stemmed precisely from the need to circumvent the Instagram bot in order to show his works.

Andrea then spoke about his art and his message: having approached this world in order to feel free, he tries to bear witness to the peculiarities of his time, cultural and social changes by very often using the female image, which in art has always been taken as a model of beauty and purity.

They then discussed NFT technology and its impact in the art world: for Crespi, digital art allows not only an infinite canvas, but also a greater impact, not just in visual terms, as in the case of his exhibition in Times Square, which was impossible with a canvas, but especially in terms of reaching people. The artist went on to emphasize control over the supply of works, which in the digital realm often require shorter creation times: precisely because of this peculiarity, having control over the drops is crucial, so as to avoid flooding the market.

Among the artist’s various engagements in this period are Art Basel Miami, an exhibition with Art innovation Gallery and another with Cripto Art Italia.
