The collection is expected to launch by January 2023, with a total of 7,500 unique NFTs.
Luxurious automaker Porsche has come forward with a plan to venture into the virtual world using non-fungible tokens (NFTs) art. The automaker revealed its plans to launch the Porsche NFTs during the ongoing Art Basel in Miami, Florida.
Details of Upcoming Porsche NFTs
According to the firm, the collection will have a total of 7,500 unique NFTs. The firm also confirms that it will be launching the collection in collaboration with renowned 3D artist Patrick Vogel, whose ALT/SHIFT studio will create the designs.
Buyers can make their car selections from three available core themes, namely: Lifestyle, Performance, and Heritage. However, each individual user will be limited to only three possible purchases. Users will also be able to view their cars on the metaverse via a rendering in Unreal Engine 5.
And all things being equal, expectations are that the collections will be available for rollout by January 2023.
Speaking about Porsche’s planned launch, a Sales and Marketing board member, Detlev von Platen suggests that it is a necessary move that aligns with the company’s understanding of recent trends. He said:
“The NFT artworks enable us to take our understanding of modern luxury and the unique brand positioning of Porsche into the digital world.”
Meanwhile, it might be worth mentioning that this is not Porsche’s first foray into the NFT space. Although this earlier try was not in the art form. The brand ran an NFT program that rewarded users with digital badges used to access specific race tracks and official events.
However, more recently, Porsche continues to have an interest in dealing with artists in order to tap the great potential of such partnerships. Among the many benefits of these new partnerships is that it offers the brand access to new and even larger audiences.
For instance, Porsche experimented with the idea with its Taycan model in 2022. It handed it over to Streetwear designer Sean Wotherspoon, who covered up the body in custom pastel hues. Whereas, the EV’s exterior was handled by another artist, Shun Sudo at another time. Sudo also painted boldly colored flowers on the exterior.
