Polygon developer Polygon Labs has announced the launch of a grant program to support projects within the Polygon ecosystem.
Polygon Launches Grant Program for Its Ecosystem
Polygon developer Polygon Labs has relaunched the Polygon Village initiative to help projects grow within the Polygon ecosystem. They are offering a new grant program that contains approximately 110 million MATIC tokens, valued at around $91.3 million.
MATIC Village 2.0 provides an integrated support system that goes beyond current funding, offering strategic advice, mentoring, co-working spaces, and access to a VC network for projects, according to a blog post.
MATIC Village 2.0 follows the Polygon 2.0 upgrade proposals released in September. This upgrade aims to create a set of interconnected Layer 2 chains supported by zero-knowledge proofs and includes the creation of the POL token to facilitate MATIC token swaps with various capacities.
This initiative is divided into three components: ‘Village Grants,’ ‘Village Project Ideas,’ and ‘Village Startup Support.’ The community grant program offers an open policy for development across various crypto sectors, including DeFi, SocialFi, gaming, and infrastructure.
From the over $90 million in funds, the Polygon Foundation will provide direct grants of up to 2 million MATIC (approximately $1.7 million) for later-stage projects and quadratic funding grants for early-stage teams.
Quadratic funding boosts available resources by inviting community members to donate to projects and act as votes to determine where the funds will be allocated. More support results in larger matching. Polygon has opened quadratic funding grants today, with more to come in the future.
In addition to ‘Village Grants,’ ‘Village Project Ideas’ is a platform for those seeking projects, providing 1:1 mentoring and support to choose from a catalog of pre-prepared ideas that can turn into real projects.
Other Opportunities at Polygon Village
Polygon Village Startup Support allows projects to apply for service coupons, which include options such as smart contract audits, storage solutions, and a range of web3 infrastructure, including oracles and tools.
It also offers interaction opportunities with technology experts, the Polygon Labs team, VCs, and marketing strategists to assist projects in coming to life. In the spirit of community connection, Polygon Village also includes ‘Village Maker Houses’ in New York and Lisbon, which serve as real-world hubs for networking and resource sharing.
