Paris Hilton taps the Sandbox for Parisland dating reality show

Paris Hilton’s 11:11 Media has joined forces with Animoca Brand’s Sandbox to launch Parisland, a romantic adventure experience in the metaverse. Starting from Feb. 13., the players will be able to participate in the metaverse dating reality show hosted by the Hollywood celeb.

As this year’s valentines day draws near, Paris Whitney Hilton, a famous American socialite and media personality, has partnered with The Sandbox to roll out a new metaverse adventure designed to usher in more excitement and fun.

Dubbed Parisland, the new platform will allow participants to carry out several tasks with up to five romantic partners in the metaverse, including selecting wedding rings and outfits, flirting with other contestants, and more.

“Parisland offers a dazzling escape to sunny beaches, lighthearted romance, and genuine emotion as you discover and woo your romantic partner and celebrate with a destination wedding.”

Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox

While Paris Hilton joined the crypto bandwagon during the initial coin offerings (ICO) craze of 2016/2017, the entertainer and her 11:11 Media first forayed into the metaverse with the launch of Paris Hilton world in Roblox in 2021.

Despite regulatory concerns and increasing cases of crime in the virtual world, the metaverse trend has remained quite hot, defying the current crypto market downturn. According to recent reports, metaverse-themed blockchain games raised over $1.3 billion during Q3 2022 alone.

In recent months, many highly reputed companies in the real world have joined the metaverse train, including mobile phone manufacturer Nokia, which currently provides aid to workers in beer breweries and aircraft engineers via the metaverse.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs), another integral part of the metaverse, have seen a resurgence in 2023, following a steep drop in trading volume brought about by the crypto winter and widespread FUD triggered by the FTX scandal.

As reported by crypto.news on Feb. 8, popular NFT collections Bored Ape yacht and CryptoPunks, which recently went live on the bitcoin blockchain, recorded their first million-dollar NFT sales in 2023.

On Feb. 9, Shemaroo, an Indian entertainment giant, announced plans to launch its NFT marketplace named Virtasy.io on Polygon.
