Namada to Launch Incentivized Testnet Offering 3% of Its Token Supply

Privacy-oriented Namada, a Layer 1 blockchain, is going to provide an incentivized testnet whereby participants will get a payout of 3% of the entire supply. This testnet campaign, called “Namada Shielded Expedition,” is a multiplayer role-playing game that is beginning in advance of the privacy protocol’s mainnet release in early 2024.

To test the network’s consensus (CometBFT) algorithm and Sybil resistance, users and validators may join a competitive game on Namada’s testnet. Before Namada is released on the mainnet, the intention is to let users make use of its capabilities, which facilitate asset-agnostic privacy.

Testnet users will engage in a competitive “asteroid mining race,” with rankings determined by the quantity of ROIDs (points) they amass. Those who win the game will get 30 million NAM tokens in total, which is 3% of the one billion token supply. Starting on January 15th, the Namada testnet will remain operational until the end of the month.

A week after Namada announced a community airdrop, giving out 65 million (or 6.5% of the total supply) to researchers, developers, and stakeholders on the Cosmos Hub and Osmosis blockchains, the testnet incentives were made public.

Namada: What is it?

Launched in the first quarter of 2024, Namada is a proof-of-stake Layer-1 blockchain system created by the Anoma Foundation. The network’s goal is to provide asset-agnostic multichain privacy as part of the Cosmos ecosystem by using zero-knowledge proofs to move assets across blockchains.

Additionally, the network has a native Ethereum bridge that allows assets to transfer across networks. The Anoma Foundation obtained $25 million in financing in May 2023 to further expand its ecosystem, which included Namada.
