- Musk’s departure as CEO of Twitter received 57.5% of the vote.
- He asserted that he would follow the results of the vote.
Twitter Inc. will limit voting on significant policy decisions to paying Twitter Blue customers, according to Elon Musk, in one of his first tweets following a poll asking for his resignation.
The billionaire leader had earlier asked Twitter users if they thought he should stand down and promised to put all future policy decisions up for a vote. More than 10 million people, or 57.5 percent of the vote, favored Musk giving up his position as Twitter’s CEO.
Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

Musk Remains Silence
Musk had declared that he would respect the outcome of the poll. He will be turning over control of the business that he paid $44 billion for in late October if he follows through with his plan. Mass layoffs at the corporation, declining ad sales, executive resignations, and the suspension of numerous well-known user accounts due to violations of recently created policies have all occurred in the tumultuous weeks since then.
But, After asking followers whether he should stay on as head of Twitter, Mr. Musk added in another tweet that, “No one wants the job who can keep Twitter alive. There is no successor”.
On Sunday, Twitter declared a rule prohibiting users from posting links and usernames from other social media sites including Instagram, Facebook, and Mastodon, but later seemed to relax the rule. About twenty accounts that followed the whereabouts of private aircraft, including one that followed Elon Musk’s private jet, were suspended by Twitter last week. The company cited a new rule that prohibited users from sharing the “live location” of others in support of its decision.
