Ripple remains a dominant holder of XRP, joined by Ripple co-founders, top cryptocurrency exchanges, and a random whale wallet.
Being the sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, XRP is one of the most widely held cryptocurrencies. On-chain data shows that there are over 4.9 million active accounts holding the asset, with its total market capitalization hovering around $33.6 billion.
However, not much is often known about the largest individual XRP holders. Instead, the list of top addresses holding the cryptocurrency is topped by Ripple and a host of exchanges that are considered the leading trading destinations for XRP. This article discusses the top ten holders.
Top 10 XRP Holders
Ripple is the largest XRP holder. Blockchain explorer XRP Scan shows that addresses belonging to the company control around 46% of the cryptocurrency’s total supply, or 46 billion coins which are held in escrow and gradually released into circulation.
Beyond this large supply, the top two addresses holding XRP are also Ripple-associated addresses. They hold a combined 3.4 billion XRP (worth approximately $2.1 billion at current prices).
Meanwhile, South Korean-based exchange UpBit is second on the list. Upbit holds over 6 billion XRP (worth $3 billion) and is usually one of the leading major offshore exchanges to see an uptick in volume when XRP is in a significant uptrend or downtrend.
The third largest XRP holder is Binance, the leading crypto exchange. Although its holding is largely made up of customer assets, it is notable that Binance and its users hold 2.9 billion XRP (worth approximately $1.79 billion) on its top XRP addresses.

Fourth on the top rich XRP list is Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen, who recently had a lawsuit against him, and CEO Brad Garlinghouse dropped by the SEC. Chris Larsen’s top XRP address holds 2.8 billion XRP ($1.7 billion), according to on-chain data.
Fifth is Uphold, a U.S.-based XRP-friendly cryptocurrency exchange. The platform holds 2.1 billion XRP coins (worth around $1.3 billion), or roughly two percent of XRP’s maximum supply.
Another Ripple co-founder, Arthur Brito, is sixth on the list. Top XRP addresses tagged to the Ripple holder have around 1.38 billion XRP (approximately $860 million) at the time of writing.
Kraken, Bitbank and Coincheck Make the Cut
Leading crypto exchange Kraken is seventh, having relisted XRP after a landmark Supreme Court ruling in July 2023. Kraken held a little over 750 million XRP (around $458 million) for its business and customers.
Coming eighth on the list is an anonymous XRP wallet that was first activated in 2021. The address has gone on to accumulate 685 million XRP (approximately $424 million), with very few transfers out while doing so.
Bitbank and Coincheck, both Japan-based cryptocurrency exchanges, round up the top ten list in ninth and tenth position, respectively. The exchanges hold a combined 1.2 billion XRP (approximately $744 million).
