MapleStory Universe (MSU), powered by the blockchain innovation studio NEXPACE, has announced a significant advancement in its Infinite IP Playground (IIPP) initiative. The latest updates focus on enhancing developer tools, onboarding new intellectual property (IP), and strengthening the foundation for a community-driven, blockchain-enabled gaming ecosystem.
Turning Players into Builders
MSU, an evolution of Nexon’s iconic gaming IP, is blending the worlds of gaming and blockchain by empowering players to become co-creators. Through newly launched game logic APIs, builder infrastructure, and cross-IP scalability, MSU aims to transition from traditional gameplay loops to open-ended, community-driven experiences.
Sharing his thoughts on the development, Sunyoung Hwang, CEO of NEXPACE, noted:

A major milestone in this evolution is the introduction of MSU’s first gameplay logic API, which centres on item enhancement, a core progression feature well-known to MapleStory players. The Smithy prototype, set to launch on July 29, will test this API in a live environment, paving the way for a new wave of user-driven services and customized gameplay experiences.
This initiative forms part of the broader vision behind MSU’s upcoming Builder Center, a specialized hub designed to provide developers with seamless API integration, versatile on- and off-chain modular tools. Theses tools are designed for building dApps and gameplay mechanics, and permissionless blockchain infrastructure to help deploy smart contracts. The Builder Center will also feature Chainlink CCIP integration, enabling secure cross-chain digital asset interactions.
To further accelerate innovation, NEXPACE has unveiled an ecosystem fund dedicated to supporting early-stage projects aligned with the Infinite IP Playground vision. This fund will prioritize initiatives focused on MetaPlay services, SocialFi applications, AI-enhanced gaming experiences, and community-driven tools.
Builder Ecosystem Momentum
Since opening API access, more than 50 independent teams have started building tools such as guild dashboards, prediction markets, and marketplace services within MSU’s ecosystem. The platform plans to double down on this momentum with third-party Synergy Apps rolling out between September and November 2025, alongside progressive API enhancements.
In a strategic move to scale its multi-IP platform, NEXPACE has confirmed that another of Nexon’s flagship franchises will be integrated into the MSU ecosystem. This expansion will introduce new gameplay formats and cross-IP creative possibilities, signalling NEXPACE’s ambition to evolve its gaming universe beyond MapleStory.
Roadmap for 2025
The roadmap for MapleStory Universe outlines a series of pivotal milestones for the remainder of 2025. In August, the platform will introduce new ecosystem support policies alongside an expanded set of API features designed to enhance developer capabilities. Between September and November, MSU will focus on onboarding third-party Synergy Apps and services, fostering a richer and more collaborative ecosystem. By December, the platform plans to launch the fully developed Builder Center, roll out an expanded API suite, and unveil the highly anticipated MapleStory N Winter Update.
Sunyoung Hwang, the CEO of NEXPACE, remarked that the latest updates represent a significant turning point for MapleStory Universe. Hwang explained that the company is not merely introducing new tools or integrating additional IPs but is instead laying the groundwork for a platform to shape the future of web3 gaming worlds collaboratively.
