- Realize Finance has announced that it will be deploying on the IOTA Rebased mainnet, becoming one of the first movers.
- IOTA co-founder has disclosed that there are real yield opportunities with more tokenized funds and trade finance in the pipeline.
Multiple reports have confirmed that IOTA will launch its much-anticipated rebased mainnet upgrade on May 5. Fascinatingly, several projects have declared their willingness to deploy on the mainnet, with the latest coming from Realize Finance.
Detailing this report, Realize Finance disclosed on X that its groundbreaking move would position it to leverage the 50,000 Transactions Per Second (TPS) and a finality time of less than 500 milliseconds, expected to be achieved by IOTA.
Also, its decision to deploy on IOTA was motivated by the integration of Move’s resource-based model, which could reduce attack vectors. Coupled with that, the upcoming Rebased Protocol would introduce immense speed, making confirmations nearly instant. Most importantly, the Protocol is built for cross-chain Real-World Asset (RWA) flows. As discussed earlier in our news brief, the integration of Layer 1 Move smart contracts would enhance programmability.
Realize also highlighted that its integration on IOTA would significantly benefit users. One of its contributions would be user transaction sponsorship. In this case, there would be no gas fees. On top of that, it would facilitate smooth onboarding and a frictionless user experience.
In the future, Realize will be able to build compliant and scalable tokenization on IOTA. Additionally, its collaboration with IOTA would produce more RWA offerings and yield-generating Decentralized Finance (DeFi) integrations.
With this, IOTA co-founder Dominik Schiener highlighted that they “are lining up real yield opportunities with more tokenized funds and trade finance.” According to him, this would include tokenized trade receivables, commodities, and real estate, making IOTA a real yield ecosystem.
More to Expect from the IOTA Rebased Protocol
The upcoming Rebased Protocol bridges DeFi and Institutional needs, which, according to analyst Michael Atlan, makes IOTA ready for real-world adoption. Fascinatingly, this is evident in the integration of MoveVM and EVM, a $50 million growth fund, regulated finance solutions, etc. As detailed in our previous blog post, the IOTA Rebased Protocol is meant to achieve full decentralization with a validator set of 150 participants
Leading to the upgrade, a mainnet migration phase would be initiated, with token holders expected to stake IOTA tokens through official wallets. Highlighting some of the things to expect in the coming months, the IOTA communication team disclosed that they would leverage the opportunities unlocked by the Rebased Protocol to emerge as the leading global blockchain infrastructure.
If adopted, IOTA Rebased would significantly enhance the utility and competitiveness of the IOTA ecosystem, providing a more efficient path than the original IOTA 2.0 plans. With Move-based smart contracts and a scalable, object-oriented ledger inspired by Sui, IOTA Rebased is set to achieve programmability and decentralization more rapidly, meeting the increasing demands from industries and developers.
Following this report, the price of IOTA surged by 10% on its weekly price chart, trading at $0.2 at press time. According to our recent analysis, the asset could take a big step and possibly breach its resistance range of $0.27 and $0.28 after the official Rebased launch.
