The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), Damian Williams stated that SBF was taken into custody at the request of the US government following the filing of a sealed indictment by the SDNY.

The New York Times reports that the charges against SBF in the indictment will be made public on Tuesday.

SBF Extradition To US Could Take Weeks?

Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti expects the extradition will take weeks to complete.

He asserted that the U.S. Department of Justice wouldn’t have proceeded with the case if they weren’t confident about extraditing Sam Bankman-Fried.

“It is inconceivable to me that the Justice Department would have charged this case unless they were confident that they could extradite him,” Renato Mariotti told CNBC on December 13.
