Hoskinson Reveals When Cardano Will Run a Nation State

Charles Hoskinson, CEO and founder of Input Output Global (IOG), reveals a bold future for Cardano, indicating when the project might run a nation-state. 

In a keynote titled ‘After Voltaire: The Next Evolution of Cardano,’ Hoskinson predicted that the ecosystem could run a nation-state by 2030, six years from now. Notably, Hoskinson expects Cardano’s nation-state to be massive, boasting millions of users.

Cardano to Revolutionize Control of Digital Lives 

According to him, Cardano’s nation-state vision is similar to the American Revolution, which fundamentally changed the world’s social contract to the rule of many instead of a few. 

He emphasized that Cardano as an ecosystem can hold another revolution, enabling users to control their digital lives rather than leaving it in the hands of multi-trillion dollar companies. 

Interestingly, he heaped praises on Cardano, suggesting that its community members have achieved their set goals. He stated that the ecosystem has the right people and resources to accomplish any goal. 

“We also have an engine that keeps speeding and getting faster. We need to have the will to coordinate and prove that we are the ones to do this,” Hoskinson noted. 

Recall that Cardano made a pivotal step toward welcoming decentralized governance following the implementation of the Chang hard fork on September 1. Notably, Cardano is expected to transition into the Voltaire era once the second controlled Chang hard fork launches. 

According to the current roadmap, Cardano v10 is set for prerelease testing, with the Chang hard fork process slated to commence next month. 

Hoskinson Anticipates Cardano Constitutional Convention  

While Hoskinson believes the upgrade will impact the world, he highlighted the importance of Cardano’s upcoming Constitutional Convention, slated to hold in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by December 2024.  

Hoskinson said the community will vote on a roadmap, setting Cardano’s priorities with a defined coalition and budget at the convention. He believes this decision-making process is crucial, as the community will collectively determine Cardano’s future. 

The IOG CEO highlighted two potential paths for the network. One path involves a cautious approach, which requires the community to focus on small concerns. The other revolves around an ambitious approach, in which Cardano could be used to bring greater societal changes.
