The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a public alert concerning phishing messages associated with Livi Bank Limited. This announcement underscores the growing threat of cyber fraud and the need for heightened vigilance among banking customers.

Phishing Threats Highlighted

According to the HKMA, these phishing messages have been reported and are designed to deceive recipients into revealing sensitive personal information. The authority emphasizes that legitimate banks, including Livi Bank, will not send emails or SMS containing embedded links directing users to perform transactions on bank websites. Moreover, banks will not solicit personal details such as login credentials or one-time passwords (OTPs) through phone, email, or SMS.

Public Advisory and Preventive Measures

The HKMA advises the public to remain cautious and verify any communications that appear suspicious. If individuals have inadvertently shared personal data or conducted transactions via these phishing messages, they should immediately contact Livi Bank using the official contact details provided in the bank’s press release. Additionally, affected individuals are urged to report such incidents to the Hong Kong Police Force’s Crime Wing Information Centre at 2860 5012.

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Cybercrime
