Alphabet’s Google said it is opening access to its experimental generative AI tool ‘Bard’. This was earlier announced by the company after the success of OpenAI’s AI chatbot ChatGPT. Bard is touted by Google as a tool that brings helpful AI experiences to people, businesses and communities. In a latest blog, the Google artificial intelligence tool shows an example interaction on ways to read 20 books an year.

Responsible Bard
Google highlighted its focus on building a safe and quality tool guided by its AI principles. Work is on to ensure this using human feedback and evaluation to improve our systems, it said. Although users can already sign up to try Bard, access is currently limited geographically. Access is currently provided to U.S. and U.K. based users while expansion to to more countries and languages will be done eventually.
“Today we are starting to open access to Bard, an early experiment that lets you collaborate with generative AI. We are beginning with the U.S. and the U.K., and will expand to more countries and languages over time.”

The company took caution in mentioning that Bard is only an experiment as of now. The Google Bard AI tool “may give inaccurate or inappropriate responses,” it said. There is a waitlist Google opened for giving users early access. Currently, Bard does not support Google Workspace accounts or to under 18 persons.
