Dymension Unveils ‘Beyond’ Upgrade: Unleashing A Universal Settlement layer

  • Through the implementation of the Beyond upgrade, Dymension is transformed into a universal settlement layer.
  • Through the use of Beyond, developers are able to deploy rollups on top of any base chain in a seamless manner.

With its introduction, Dymension became the first Layer 1 blockchain that was designed to host native rollups. As time went on, it transformed into a rollup launchpad that was completely onchain, making it simple for anybody to launch rollups. All of these rollups were only available inside the Dymension ecosystem up to this point. Now, with the upcoming release, Dymension transcends its previous limitations.

Through the use of Beyond, it is possible to build rollups on top of any blockchain without having to make any changes to the underlying chain.

Settling Rollups for Any L1

Through the implementation of the Beyond upgrade, Dymension is transformed into a universal settlement layer that may be used for rollups throughout the entire blockchain landscape.

Through the use of Beyond, developers are able to deploy rollups on top of any base chain in a seamless manner. Meanwhile, Dymension serves as the validating bridge, enabling deposits, safeguarding withdrawals, and resolving disputes based on the onchain data from base chains. Rollup users are guaranteed to have blockchain-level custody via Dymension, which eliminates the need for multisig smart contracts and eliminates the need for trust assumptions. Rollups that use Dymension inherit the data security of their base chains, but Dymension ensures trust minimized bridging.

This signifies the transition of Dymension from a rollup platform that was restricted to its own ecosystem to a universal platform that can accommodate rollups from a variety of ecosystems.

All L1s are also Data Layers

Every unique monolithic chain has its own set of limitations on what may be built. These limitations may be the result of scalability issues, latency constraints, or just being limited to a particular execution paradigm. Rollups were originally developed to scale Ethereum, but they proceeded to expand to satisfy other diverse demands such as latency, privacy, or totally different virtual machines because, as we have seen in ecosystems like as Ethereum, which started out as a general-purpose L1, rollups initially evolved to scale Ethereum. Because of its adaptability, Ethereum was able to become a trustworthy data layer while also enabling new categories of applications to be developed.

Any L1 that is seeing actual growth would be required to offer a greater number of alternatives and a greater degree of flexibility in order to meet the requirements of the expanding community, and rollups fulfill this need.

Every single monolithic blockchain, in addition to ensuring consensus and execution, also guarantees data availability. This ensures that transaction data is published, preserved, and accessible. Because of this, all L1 blockchains are intrinsically suitable for serving as rollup-ready data layers with established infrastructure. Many of these blockchains have substantial blockspace that is not being exploited to its full potential.

What This Means?

  • For L1 Blockchains:  To unlock easier rollup deployment and to promote more value accrual, while also providing developers with a complete range of execution alternatives and preventing them from being restricted to a particular architecture.
  • For Developers: You are free to choose your base L1 based on the ecosystem’s ideals, alignment, and community support without being constrained by its inherent capabilities, virtual machine, pricing structures, or performance constraints.
  • To the Users: A smooth abstracted experience with complete self-custody, as well as the ability to deposit, play, and withdraw across any rollup via an interface that is simple to maneuver.

Dymension Beyond establishes a mutually beneficial economic system in which blockchains expand their capabilities by means of rollups, and each rollup that is implemented propels Dymension farther beyond its current state.

Moving a Great Distance

Rollups have entered a new era that is defined by connectivity. Through the use of Beyond, Dymension is able to incorporate direct bridging between rollups and large ecosystems such as Solana, Ethereum L1/L2, and others. This enables native access to significant liquidity venues without the need of a custom infrastructure.

It is now possible for anybody to initiate a rollup by using Dymension’s stack. Tokens that are minted are not just transferable on Dymension, but also throughout the wider cryptocurrency landscape.

Most crucially, the process of depositing tokens into a rollup from any blockchain that is supported is simplified to the point that it just requires one click.

Moving Fast

Dymension is not only expanded by Beyond, but it is also accelerated by it. In order to make deposits, trades, and interactions almost instantaneous, block times have been reduced from around five seconds to only one second. This step has the effect of transforming the responsiveness of the network, which in turn unlocks a user experience that is comparable to that of centralized platforms, but with complete self-custody and real decentralization.

Users are now able to engage throughout Dymension without having to sign every transaction, which creates a seamless and high-speed cryptocurrency experience. This is possible due to Quick Auth.

Moving Beyond

Dymension and the blockchain landscape are entering a new chapter with the release of Beyond, which is more than just an upgrade. Beyond is on its way very soon. While we are rolling it out, one may follow along on X and Discord.
