Dogecoin Proves That Meme Coins Are Just As Valuable As Utility Coins, Is MemeFi The Next Evolution?

In the last bull run cycle in 2021, Dogecoin grew to huge heights as retail and new traders got excited by the iconic dog meme. Although the price subsequently fell once the bull market ended, Dogecoin remains popular.

Cutoshi is another meme coin that is growing in popularity during the current crypto bull run.

Meme Coins Like DOGE Are Pumping, But A New Breed Is On The Up.

Now that we are in a new cycle, DOGE is rising again, up 428% on the one-year chart and is the 6th biggest coin by market cap. But what’s next for memes and crypto? Some think it’s memeFi.

In a recent speech at Token2049 in Singapore, analyst Murad said that meme coins are this year’s supercycle.

Murad explained that most retail investors aren’t interested in complicated technical improvements, such as why a blockchain is slightly better or faster, but instead are drawn to the simplicity and viral appeal of memes.

He sees memes as essential for converting ordinary people to crypto enthusiasts. However, he feels that Dogecoin is old news and newer meme coins are the way forward.

Meme Coins Like DOGE Are Pumping

We agree with this view and take it a step further.

Although zk-rollups and the latest Ethereum and Cardano updates aren’t interesting to the majority of new people in crypto, they are going to be interested in the monetary freedom and earning potential that DeFi provides.

With real-world inflation on the up, everyone is feeling the pinch of increased prices and while interest rates are higher than before, they are still lagging behind what DeFi can provide. For example, yields on stablecoins can get as high as 35% or more, whereas in the bank you would be lucky to get better than 6%.

And that’s why MemeFi is gaining support and the hashtag was recently trending on X for the first time ever.

What Is MemeFi And Why Is It The Next Step For Meme Coins?

MemeFi are projects that are firstly a meme, such as Shiba Inu, Floki Inu, or Cutoshi, but also provide their holders with ways to enjoy the benefits of DeFi. Dogecoin is not memeFi, although some might point to the Doginals inscriptions, but for most people that is something too technical to get interested in.

Although you could go online and take a course in DeFi, most people aren’t going to do that – unless they have a good reason.

So memeFi projects like Cutoshi must first attract a big community by using an appealing meme and a fun community strategy that promotes engagement and things like meme-making and doing quests to earn more coins – similar to yield farming.

As holders and community members begin to see the financial benefits of DeFi, they are going to get more engaged and want to learn more.

Education will be a key part of this, so Cutoshi is going to have a learning academy that presents info in a fun and easily digestible way.

Which MemeFi Projects Will People Choose?

While Shiba Inu and Floki Inu do things like this, they are large cap meme coins that Murad feels have had their day. A new memeFi coin like Cutoshi will get people excited by its possibility to grow much higher and by the grassroots feel of something new.

Cutoshi is in presale, available at a low price to reward early backers, with lots of DeFi functionality in the works, such as an easy-to-use DEX to get people started in web3 and DeFi, then more advanced features like staking or providing liquidity.
