Digital Pilipinas has long emphasized the importance of forming the right partnerships in attaining its ambitions for the Philippines’ digital transformation and has, for years, been consistent in doing so.
Digital Pilipinas organized several events in recent years, from small conferences to big ones, to help the Philippines connect with its neighbors at a deeper level while opening the country to potential investors that will not only trigger the growth of the local economy but revolutionizes the way we transact in the digital world.
But for the private sector-led movement, forming alliances with the government, industry leaders, and tech disruptors is just as important as giving voice to the ordinary Filipino people, who, for Digital Pilipinas Lead Convenor Amor Maclang, will be a vital instrument in the adoption of emerging technologies.
This is why Digital Pilipinas partnered with market research firm Tangere to launch the Voice of Digital Pilipinas – Digital Bayanihan Awards.
Last week, Maclang and Tangere Founder and CEO Martin Peñaflor sealed their partnership during a press conference on launching the Voice of Digital Pilipinas – Digital Bayanihan Awards, an undertaking intended to give voice to Filipinos. The conference at Romulo Cafe, Makati City, was attended by industry players, including online payment gateway Dragonpay founder and CEO Dick Chiang, and media partners for the upcoming Philippine Fintech Festival, of which CoinGeek is a part of.
In previous elections, the Philippines heavily relied on traditional research providers to track the standing of their candidates running for a position in the national government. But while these traditional pollsters have given Filipinos reliable data for years, they were not spared from intense public scrutiny, with people questioning their methods in gathering data and whether survey designs need to be updated.
With Tangere entering the market, Filipinos are sure to get survey data in an accurate and timely manner. Users wishing to participate in the surveys can download the app via the Play Store or App Store. Currently, the app is nearing over a million users nationwide.
“We evolve now into a platform wherein in five days, instead of five weeks, you can get the result of our survey,” noted Peñaflor.
Peñaflor said Tangere conducted a poll during the most controversial elections in the Philippines in 2022 and got accurate data. He then revealed that data gathering for the senatorial election, which will take place in 2025, is ongoing, with incumbent Senator Erwin Tulfo currently leading the race.
But the Voice of Digital Pilipinas – Digital Bayanihan Awards does not revolve solely around surveys, with the collaboration recognizing industries and tech disruptors making significant contributions to the Philippines’ digitalization.
Apart from the partnership signing with Tangere and the launch of the Voice of Digital Pilipinas – Digital Bayanihan Awards, the event also saw the introduction of the inaugural Festival of Festivals, which will happen on the sidelines of the Philippine Fintech Festival.
The “festival of festivals” will go beyond payments and banking, said Maclang, as Digital Pilipinas will spotlight the technological advancements in critical industries, such as healthcare, cybersecurity, insurtech, climate, halal economy, and esports, among others, and how they are making headways in shaping the Philippines’ digital and creative economy.
“Where there’s a problem, there’s always technology,” Maclang said.
These festivals are supported by state-backed agencies, including the Department of Health (DOH), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The Digital Pilipinas Philippine Fintech Festival 2023 is set to take place on November 20-24 at the SMX Aura, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
