CoinTR assists earthquake victims in Turkey

In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey on Feb. 6, 2023, more than 9m people were directly affected. Thousands are seeking refuge in temporary shelters nationwide while many families have been separated. As a result, hundreds of children are orphaned or unable to reunite with their parents. The challenges of rebuilding after the disaster remain enormous.

CoinTR, a local exchange in Turkey, visited the area and actively contacted Turkish NGOs, joining forces with industry partners to donate funds and necessities to affected people. They also built and donated cinema tents for children to help them recover.

In cooperation with Umut Sensin Association, a Turkish non-governmental organization (NGO), CoinTR set up a relief tent in Pinarbasi, Kahramanmarash Elbistan. They built the first “children’s cinema” and showed the “Ice Age” movie. At the same time, popcorn toys and more were provided in the hope that they would enjoy the joy of going to the cinema to relieve and soothe their broken hearts.

The Umut Senshin Association and CoinTR Pro Exchange hope to keep the tent cinema project going as they help more children in the disaster area.
