Tongyi Qianwen, which translates to “truth from a thousand questions,” is an AI language model that is capable to write invitation letters, organize vacations, and provide beauty product recommendations to buyers. The AI language model has been launched by Chinese tech giant Alibaba.
Initially, Tongyi Qianwen will be included in DingTalk, Alibaba’s workplace messaging app, and will be used for summarizing meeting notes, composing emails, and creating business proposals. Tmall Genie, Alibaba’s voice assistant, will be updated to include the feature as well.
Banking on AI as Dominant Future Tech
It has been stated that their chatbot can switch between Mandarin and English. The Tmall Genie smart speaker lineup will use cutting-edge AI speech recognition technology.
Technology “will bring about big changes to the way we produce, the way we work, and the way we live our lives,” CEO Daniel Zhang said during the livestreamed event. He went on to say that Tongyi Qianwen and other AI models represent the broad view for making AI more mainstream in the future.
Starting this Friday, customers of the Chinese internet giant’s cloud division will be able to register for access to Tongyi Qianwen and begin creating massive language models tailored specifically to their needs.
Cyberspace Administration of China draught guidelines said that although the government encouraged the development and dissemination of this technology, all material produced must be in line with “core socialist values” and comply with data security and personal information protection regulations.
It further warned that violators might face criminal charges and financial penalties. There is widespread worry about the ethical implications of generative AI technology, as well as its impact on national security, employment, and education.
