This week’s guest on the Cardano SPO Column is a stake pool operated by 3 friends from Austria who also have a YouTube channel: Block Producer Austria [ERE].
Last week’s guest was a stake pool that donates a portion of pool rewards to climate action initiatives.
This initiative is a point of reference for everything Cardano and every week or two we will invite a Stake Pool Operator (SPO) to answer some questions and give us an update directly from within the Cardano community.
Considering that many of our readers are new to the crypto space, we will have a mix of simple and technical questions.
Cardano SPO, interview with Block Producer Austria [ERE]
Hi, thanks for your time. Tell us something about your team, where are you based and what are your backgrounds?
Thank you for being part of your initiative to give SPO room to show up. Block Producer consists of three friends with an IT and finance background. We are located in Vienna, the beautiful capital city of Austria.
Each of us has our strengths in the team and that is what makes us special. Two of us always take care of the infrastructure and one is always responsible for the social media and content. YouTube is a big part of it of course, and that takes a lot of time. We are there as pool operators for all the delegators’ concerns and support them whenever we can. We have now also signed up for some projects as ISPO in order to get added value for the delegators.
What convinced you about Cardano and why did you become Stake Pool Operators (SPO)?
It all started with Charles Hoskinson‘s TED talk about the development of blockchain and how it is entering the world. That inspired us. Banking the unbanked. At the same time, it was important to us the fact that Cardano put a lot of emphasis on academic research and testing of the material before it is implemented. Because this is where it often shows whether it works or not.
Therefore, we started to discuss internally how we can support this development. That is why we have decided to act here as an SPO. On the one hand, to provide the infrastructure for decentralization, but also to provide added value to the community through our YouTube channel.
What excites you the most about Cardano in 2022, what developments are you looking forward to?
In 2022, the community will be in the spotlight. On the one hand, the new projects (RealFi, DEX, Converter) will come onto the blockchain. On the other hand, we will also see governance with the handover of the Relay on IOG to the community, which is also an important step with the Voltaire era.
But the most exciting thing for 2022 will of course be Hydra. To see how the speed and processing increases. We are convinced that a lot of projects will run on Cardano. You only have to look at the pipeline. SundaeSwap will go live soon. Coti is working with high pressure on DJED. It will be an exciting year on the blockchain and the year of the community to show what is being developed and what is possible with Cardano.
Besides running the stake pool, you also have a YouTube channel. Tell us more, what type of content do you create?
Yes, this is a very exciting topic. When we started with the pool, we faced a lot of questions in our environment. Most of them were very simple things. What is this? Where can I buy it? What is a wallet? How does blockchain even work? So we decided to create a YouTube channel as well where we can:
- offer information for all newcomers. Instructions for exchanges, wallets etc. Everything everyone needs to get started in the crypto world.
- Cardano is very important to us. And here we would also like to share our insights to the community. What is happening on the blockchain? Where are we on the roadmap? What are the most important news of the past few days and how is the price development of ADA?
So the channel has a lot to offer and there is something for everyone. For beginners as well as for advanced investors.
Anything else to add? Where can people find you?
Block Producer can be reached via social media such as Twitter, Facebook or Reddit. We also have a chapter on this in the Cardano Forum.
Furthermore, via YouTube, Telegram or email. If you would like more information about how to reach us please visit our homepage. Here you can find all our channels and contact possibilities.
