Cardano Founder Says To Be More Careful After Community Judges He is “Not On Same Page As Developers” On Vasil

ProjectNEWM CTO Says Cardano Founder “Is Not On The Same Page As His DevOps” Amid Vasil Launch.

Westberg urged SPOs not to follow Hoskinson’s recent recommendation.

Cardano enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the launch of the Vasil hard fork. However, things do not seem to be going smoothly, as Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) have experienced a few glitches upgrading their nodes for Vasil deployment.

Yesterday, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson urged all Stake Pool Operators (SPO) on the network to upgrade their node to version 1.35.3 in preparation for the upcoming Vasil hard fork

According to Hoskinson, node 1.35.3 may likely be the exact node for Vasil hard fork, and SPOs and decentralized applications need to upgrade to the new node. He said:

“Let’s try this again. If you’re an SPO, then please start the upgrade path. 1.35.3 is heavily tested, and it’s more likely than not going to be the version for the HFC,” Hoskinson tweeted.

Westberg Counters Hoskinson

The Cardano founder was countered by Andrew Westberg, the Chief Technical Officer at ProjectNEWM, who immediately urged SPOs not to heed Hoskinson’s call.

Westberg told SPOs “NOT [to] upgrade to 1.35.3 on mainnet yet.” He noted that Hoskinson is not on the same page as his test team and Developers.

Furthermore, Westberg advised SPOs to first run the newly released node on the testnet before running it on mainnet.

“Run either 1.34.1 or 1.35.3 on the prepared network. Wait until they hard fork successfully and we verify there are no issues. THEN we can upgrade to mainnet,” he added.

A Twitter user who claims to support small SPOs also commented on Westberg’s tweet.  “yea, he needs to stop this unnecessary hyping. If 1.35.3 flopped like 1.35.1, .2, he would probably look like a clown.”

However, despite asking SPOs not to follow Hoskinson’s recommendation, Westberg sarcastically expressed gratitude to Cardano founder for sharing the update.

Reacting to his comments, Hoskinson said: “Thanks for forcing the clarity. I should be more careful with tweets.”

Vasil Launch Date Still Unknown

Members of the Cardano community have been awaiting the official deployment of the Vasil upgrade. Cardano’s Input Output had initially said the hard fork would go live by June end. However, Vasil’s launch was to be launched by the end of last month, but the hard fork did not occur as scheduled. Currently, no official date has been set for Vasil’s mainnet deployment.
