Bybit, the world’s second-largest crypto exchange by trading volume, has achieved a landmark victory in the digital trading arena. Its premier competition, the World Series of Trading (WSOT) 2025, has earned a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the highest number of participants in an online trading contest within 24 hours.

The accolade highlights the growing impact of WSOT on the global crypto community. Notably, the event attracted an astonishing 71,765 verified participants between August 27 at 12 PM UTC and 12 PM UTC on August 28. This milestone was audited by cybersecurity firm HACKEN and witnessed by independent observers. Once everything was in order, Bybit received the Guinness World Records’ certification.

A Milestone for Competitive Crypto Trading

Commenting on the achievement, Claudia Wang, Head of Marketing at Bybit, stated:

“Nothing demonstrates team spirit like a world record achieved by the WSOT collective. We believe crypto is a global movement and our passionate communities are the building blocks, and Bybit is beyond proud to spearhead efforts to bring the recognition our WSOT family deserves.”

By September 8, just a week before the final round, WSOT 2025 had already set new benchmarks across the board. Trading activity reached an unprecedented $172.8 billion, marking the highest volume in the competition’s history. Participation also soared, with 1,474 squads taking part, an impressive 288% increase compared to the previous year. Rewards continued to climb as well, with more than 6.14 million USDT unlocked for distribution.

A new feature, the WSOT Onchain Wave, launched on August 18, added another layer of excitement and generated over $68 million in trading volume. In total, the event recorded over 236,000 registrations, with 43,505 traders confirmed in the main competition.

To honor its newly earned Guinness World Records title, Bybit announced a special bonus prize pool reserved for the first 30,000 traders who helped secure the milestone. This came on top of the $10 million main prize fund. The achievement was further celebrated during a livestream on September 8, where Bybit rewarded participants with 50,000 MNT tokens and 1,000 USDT in airdrops, making the occasion even more memorable.

Rewriting the Future of Trading Competitions

The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title underscores Bybit’s commitment to expanding access to competitive trading while pushing the boundaries of what crypto events can achieve.

This accomplishment positions WSOT as the new standard for upcoming online trading tournaments while underscoring its 2025 theme, “Rewrite and Reshape.” More than just a trading contest, the event is building stronger ties with universities, blockchain pioneers, and over 30 strategic partners, driving blockchain education and expanding adoption among diverse global communities.
