Ripple’s executives have consistently made bullish predictions for the blockchain-based digital payment giant, and in a recent interview, a notable Ripple executive forecasts an even bolder scenario where Ripple goes head-to-head with payment network giant SWIFT.
In an interview at the premier of the XRP ledger, the Apex annual summit hosted by Ripple in Singapore, Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of the global payments giant, made the bold prediction. Garlinghouse remarkably asserted that the XRP Ledger will capture 14% of SWIFT’s transactions within a 5-years period.
“Five years, five years..yes. So, I mean..SWIFT today, there’s two ways to get us to SWIFT. There’s the messaging and there’s liquidity. Liquidity is owned by banks, I think less of the messaging and more about the liquidity. If you’re driving all the liquidity, that is good for XRP anyway..So, I’ll say 5 years, 14%.”
For XRPL to attain 14% of SWIFT’s payment volume, it must surmount key regulatory barriers and continue to gain adoption from leading financial institutions. The firm must also surpass traditional competitors in the broader finance sector.
Notably, Ripple’s strategic partnerships have placed it on a path to global adoption, and its victory against the SEC has also been beneficial for the asset’s public reputation. As such, it remains to be seen how far Ripple and the XRP ledger can advance.

Meanwhile, XRP’s daily technical outlook appears promising. As noted by a market analyst, the XRP token closed with a dragonfly doji, which signals a positive price action. The XRP/BTC pair is expected to continue in an upward trajectory when BTC.D begins to decline. XRP trades at a press-time price of $3.08 per coin, up 6.86% in the last 24 hours.
