- YZi Labs rebrands from Binance Labs, expanding focus to AI, biotech, and Web3.
- Former CEO CZ continues mentorship role, guiding startups at YZi Labs.
- YZi Labs reintroduces a 12-week residency program to support emerging founders.
YZi Labs has announced in an X post that it has officially rebranded from Binance Labs. The company clarified that stepping away from the Binance brand name was a natural move as it broadens its investment interests beyond crypto asset and blockchain technology to include artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology (biotech).
This rebrand comes as YZi Labs aims to operate more independently, moving forward with a wider reach while continuing to support Web3 innovation. Under the rebranding, YZi Labs will no longer be associated with Binance, although the firm will continue to build on its foundation in blockchain and crypto.
However, former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) will continue to play an active role in the incubator, offering mentorship and coaching to startups under the YZi Labs umbrella. His continued involvement is a key part of the firm’s transition, together with Ella Zhang, a co-founder of Binance Labs. Zhang, who played a role in Binance Labs’ early success, will return to lead YZi Labs as it begins this new chapter.

YZi Labs’ New Direction
The decision to rebrand follows years of operating under the Binance name, even while maintaining operational independence. With CZ stepping down from his role at Binance, it was considered a natural progression for YZi Labs to distance itself from the Binance brand.
Despite the rebrand, YZi Labs will maintain its commitment to fostering innovation, focusing on supporting startups that aim to make a lasting societal impact. As part of this transformation, YZi Labs has reintroduced a 12-week in-person residency program to support and guide project founders through mentorship and hands-on development. This program will help build the next generation of blockchain, AI, and biotech startups.
The Future for YZi Labs
Looking ahead, YZi Labs remains committed to its mission of backing innovative founders with the possibility to drive long-term change. In a statement, CZ said that the rebrand will allow the firm to expand its vision while staying true to its roots.
