Developer of applications for KILT Protocol, Authtrail and B.T.E. BOTLabs Trusted Entity GmbH (BTE) has announced plans to integrate KILT DIDs into the Authtrail platform. The integration is to improve the trustworthiness and transparency of data flow on Authtrail.
Authtrail wants to bring blockchain-based integrity to enterprise data, powered by Moonbeam, a smart contract platform based on Polkadot. Digital identities composed of Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and verifiable credentials using KILT will be integrated into the data sources Authtrail works with to ensure data provenance throughout the enterprise value chain.
“We are excited to work with BTE to integrate DIDs using KILT Protocol. By employing DIDsign, we can procure more value for enterprise customers who want to innovate their identity systems without compromising the security of personal or organizational data in their environment,” said Authtrail CEO, Matjaž Sobočan.
Up to this point, trust and verification are achieved through physical means using ID cards, Drivers licenses etc., but not anymore. KILT’s decentralized blockchain protocol makes issuing verifiable, revocable, and anonymous credentials possible and easy with DIDs for Web3.
Developers can use this platform to build identifiers and credentials for humans, machines, services, IoT use cases, and anything that needs identity. That way, KILT is bringing trust to the digital world by creating a framework for self-sovereign online identities.

By translating from physical identity credentials to digital, KILT gives Authtrail more capacity for veracity and traceability of data and this will meet the needs of Authtrail clients that need DIDs for their systems, organizations and employees. The DIDs will be created via the Authtrail application using DIDsign, which will streamline the onboarding process for large enterprises as no prior knowledge of DIDs or blockchain is required for the end user.
Using DIDsign, a hash for the data could be linked with a DID to form a signature, but the KILT blockchain only stores the DID for security purposes. Authtrail currently provides immutability for the data it holds, but withDIDsign, it can ensure accountability of data even before it is written to the blockchain. That way, any later alteration in the data can be easily detected as the signature and the altered data would no longer match.
