In a significant move, Arbitrum DAO has dedicated roughly 225 million ARB tokens, valued at nearly $190 million, towards the expansion of its gaming ecosystem. This initiative paves the way for the launch of the “Gaming Catalyst Program” (GCP), aimed at funding a diverse array of gaming projects.
How Will the GCP Operate?
The GCP has been designed with a foundational structure to empower contributors in investment decisions while ensuring transparency through regular reporting on personnel and compensation. So far, the gaming initiative has utilized approximately $1.2 million, primarily allocated to legal expenses for forming various entities and compensating team members.
What Are the GCP’s Upcoming Goals?
In the first quarter of 2025, contributors will commence the funding of gaming projects and bolster the team to enhance operational capabilities. The program management envisions supporting a total of 100 projects over the span of three years.
Dan Peng, part of the operations team, highlighted the growing interest, stating that by the end of December 2024, they expect a pool of 64 projects from game developers available via their new website and application form. Joseph Axisa, a community member, expressed enthusiasm about the momentum, noting it’s an exciting time as developments unfold.
- Arbitrum’s gaming ecosystem currently showcases 60 games across various genres.
- Despite an 8% increase in the ARB token‘s value recently, it has experienced a significant decline of about 58% over the past year, trading around $0.835.
- The GCP is focused on sustainable growth and aims to build trust through transparency.
As the GCP unfolds, it aspires to enhance Arbitrum’s gaming network, offering users a richer and more varied gaming experience. The commitment to transparency and structured investment is a clear reflection of Arbitrum’s goal for long-term viability in the gaming sector.
