A New Framework For Customizable L3 Networks

Key Points:

  • Arbitrum Orbit is a development framework that lets users create and launch L3 networks using any Arbitrum Rollup-based L2 network as a settlement layer.
  • With Arbitrum Orbit, users can customize their chain in terms of privacy, permissions, fee token, governance, and more.
  • Orbit chains offer dedicated throughput, traffic isolation, and gas price reliability to end-users, allowing for rapid iteration on domain-specific mechanism designs and value capture opportunities.
Create a chain with Arbitrum Orbit for a world of possibilities. Customize the chain and launch a decentralized Nitro-powered blockchain network today. Benefit from gas price reliability and traffic isolation.

Offchain Labs recently tweeted that they have released tools to help developers build Arbitrum Orbit more conveniently. Arbitrum Orbit is a development framework that allows users to create and launch L3 networks using any Arbitrum Rollup-based L2 network as a settlement layer.

Introducing Arbitrum Orbit: A New Framework For Customizable L3 Networks

This new product offering allows users to create their dedicated chain that settles to one of Arbitrum’s public Layer 2 (L2) chains. These chains include Arbitrum One, Arbitrum Nova, and Arbitrum Goerli, which all settle to Ethereum.

With Arbitrum Orbit, users can customize their chain in terms of privacy, permissions, fee token, governance, and more. This opens up a world of possibilities for users, such as launching a decentralized Nitro-powered blockchain network that benefits from Nitro’s fraud proofs, advanced compression, EVM+ compatibility via Stylus, and continuous improvements.

Additionally, Orbit chains offer dedicated throughput and traffic isolation by default, which provides gas price reliability to end-users. Users can control who can read their chain’s data and who can deploy smart contracts to their chain. Chains can be completely permissionless like Ethereum and Arbitrum One, or users can implement their own permissions policies. Lastly, users can collect fees using a token of their choice, allowing for rapid iteration on domain-specific mechanism designs and value capture opportunities.
