The Art Inspired by The French Revolution
As we all know, NFT is one of the greatest buzzwords of our generation. The fandom for the digital industry has spread from teens to seniors, engineers to artists, and rappers to entrepreneurs. Recently, Lady Gaga has joined this uprising of NFT culture. This has been recently proved by the exhibition held simultaneously at the grand ‘Musée du Louvre’ and ‘Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac.’
GAGA/MARAT, the name of the art, is an animated reworking of “The Death Of Marat.” It happens to be an infamous painting of Jacques-Louis David.
The auction went live on June 24 in New York City. The estimates were not provided initially, so the bids started only at the $100 mark.
Honoring the History
Robert Wilson’s inspiration for this art was the ruthless killing of a revolutionary French journalist. This event took place during the defining moment of France’s future, named ‘The French Revolution’ in the 1780s. To give tribute to the man who gave his life for his nation, Lady Gaga posed as Sir Marquis de Sade in the NFT. The art includes Lady Gaga reciting his writings melodiously in the background.
This NFT project is not a regular artwork containing designs of some random structures. This is a tribute, an eulogy. The digital art work it a true dedication to the memories of someone who deserves to be remembered.
Lady Gaga melodize the words: “The next day another turn came and so it continued always the same, coitus, Christ, curses, ejaculation, always the same,” in an infinite loop.
This poem is based on the writings of Marquis de Sade.
