Moonbirds NFT Creators Cancels Proof Collective’s May Event

Moonbirds NFT creators have canceled Proof Collective’s Proof of Conference event scheduled for May, according to a statement.

The release stated that the event was canceled “due to considerably less interest than anticipated.”

The project anticipated creating a new benchmark with its upcoming NFT conference. However, Digg co-founder Kevin Rose, who developed the web3 PROOF initiative and team, apologized for the “disappointment and inconvenience.”

Some in the community also expressed disappointment with the cancelation, but others came to the project’s defense:

The team stated that the decision came after reviewing sales statistics for several weeks, interacting with prospective sponsors, and conducting interviews with community members. It noted,

“We didn’t take this decision lightly, nor did we make it quickly. We have spent considerable time pouring over all the alternatives, but ultimately canceling the conference this year was the best choice.”

Meanwhile, Rose confirmed ETH refunds had been processed in full to the purchasing wallet. Others could submit a reimbursement request for travel and lodging on the website.

“Any other expense requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis,” the website states.

The project also highlighted that the emphasis for this year would be on execution, and the team would release a comprehensive report on ongoing Moonbirds efforts on March 2.

In terms of trading volume, Moonbirds ranks fifth among NFT collections on Ethereum and sixth when considering all other chains. The Moonbirds collection consists of 10,000 unique ‘profile picture’ NFTs

6,478 unique addresses on OpenSea and LooksRare hold a Moonbird, per the platform. Although, unique holders have fallen slightly in the last month from 6,561 on Jan 22.
