Rumors and conspiracy theories are not meant to benefit any market, more specifically for crypto like burgeoning and sensitive markets. If not controlled in an early stage, the fake statements and analogies could turn into a disaster for the companies. A recent example of the same came up when Ripple CTO took action against the ongoing conspiracy theory about XRP Ledger (XRPL).
XRPL Said to be Controlled by Ripple Labs
The dispute emerged after a series of questions posted by a Twitter user on Saturday, December 3rd. He asked about the decentralization of XRP Ledger of the Ripple Network. In reply, ChatGPT bot went on to claim that Ripple holds the XRPL’s control despite the facility for people to participate in the blockchain’s governance.
The claim begged a question about the possibility of control given publicly available code and participants’ consensus. For this the bot replied that the company could have some hidden abilities kept in control and not revealed within the source code.
ChatGPT bot made a bold claim stating that Ripple Labs still holds the ultimate power of decision making for XRPL. The company can decide when and what changes to make within the platform and it does not need to ask and gather support from the community either.
The bot also differentiated Bitcoin (BTC) and XRPL in terms of decentralization.
Ripple CTO Retaliates Against the Allegations
Chief Technology Officer at Ripple, David Schwartz called out the conspiracy theory of ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool. It alleged that Ripple is indirectly and secretly controlling the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
Scwartz argued that following the bot’s logic, Ripple might be able to gain control of the Bitcoin network as well and the community would also not get it. While citing the statement of the bot about XRPL under the central management, he said that it was in contrast with its own claim that XRPL distributed ledger without a central authority provides secure and efficient transactions.
ChatGPT Intended to ‘Chat’ With Users
Prominent AI research company OpenAI is the parent company of the chatbot tool ChatGPT. This was designed in order to interact with users and solve their queries about almost anything. Moreover, it could easily handle the tasks of smart contracts creations and testing.
OpenAI stated that the AI got trained for human conversations through a huge amount of data available across the internet. Since the data is also placed there by humans, the response of the bot is likely to provide information that is inaccurate, false and could be misleading also.
