WWE SummerSlam 2025 marked another massive women’s triple threat match, this time with Naomi defending her recently won Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky.
Many fans will recall the epic show-opening triple threat match at WrestleMania 41, where Sky pulled off the shocking upset against Ripley and Bianca Belair, arguably the two biggest stars in WWE’s stacked women’s division. This time around in MetLife Stadium, Naomi, fresh off an unforgettable cash-in at WWE Evolution, entered as champion just a few weeks after her title win.
In many ways, Naomi, not always pushed as a top star, showed up in East Rutherford, New Jersey as the underdog, despite being the titleholder. No surprise here: Naomi, Ripley and Sky delivered yet another fantastic triple threat match to kick off WWE SummerSlam Saturday, but only one star could leave SummerSlam as Women’s World Champion.
WWE SummerSlam 2025 Results for Naomi vs. Iyo Sky vs. Rhea Ripley?
Naomi didn’t have an easy path to a win at WWE SummerSlam, but guess what? She won anyway.
The former fan favorite-turned-villain followed up her career-defining title win at Evolution with another one inside MetLife Stadium. Naomi was able to pin Ripley with a sneak roll-up to cap off an incredible triple threat match that continued an undeniable hot streak of stellar women’s title matches.
Some of the biggest moments in SummerSlam’s triple threat match for the Women’s World title included:
- After a slow start, Ripley went for a Riptide on Sky, who countered into an STF and a sleak poisonrana.
- Minutes later, Sky hit a springboard moonsault on the outside on both of her opponents. Sky positioned herself for an Over the Moonsault, but Ripley interfered, Naomi kicked Ripley off the top rope and hit a split-legged Moonsault. Sky nearly broke it up with a moonsault of her own as Naomi went for the pin on Ripley, but Naomi win and nearly got a two-count on Sky.
- Naomi blasted Sky with a devastating nose to the knee, which allowed Ripley to hit the Riptide. It looked like Ripley had the match won, but Sky broke up the pin to a huge pop from the crowd.
- Ripley hit a big boot on Naomi to knock her off the apron and then another to Sky in the ring followed by a cannonball to Naomi on the outside. Sky hit a sunset flip powerbomb on the outside on Ripley, who went smashing into Naomi on the ground.
- Ripley hit Sky with an avalanche Riptide off the top rope, but Naomi snuck in and rolled up Ripley from behind while holding Ripley’s tights to steal the pin and the victory.
While WWE easily could have transitioned the title onto Ripley for a second time this year, Naomi was able to maintain her momentum with another signature win, one that protected both Sky and Ripley.
WWE SummerSlam 2025 Results: What’s Next for Naomi, Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley?
Naomi’s next stop is just four weeks away. Her next challenger for the Women’s World Championship is Stephanie Vaquer, who is the No. 1 contender for the title after winning a stacked battle royal at last month’s Evolution.
Although Naomi has only been champion for a cup of coffee, WWE is reportedly planning a massive push for Vaquer with the intent of making her a cornerstone of Monday Night Raw. Indeed, Vaquer, in a matter of mere months, has already become one of the company’s most popular stars, and the first step of her sizable push came with that battle royal win at Evolution.
It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see Vaquer defeat Naomi at Clash in Paris on Aug. 31 or for that match to end with a controversial finish that extends the feud. Either way, Naomi’s time as champion could already be coming to an end because Vaquer is the fastest-rising babyface in the women’s division. WWE will need to strike while the iron is hot.
Where Naomi’s feud with Vaquer will leave Ripley and Sky isn’t as clear, but the stage is set for one final match between Ripley and Sky.
As two of WWE’s most popular babyfaces, Ripley and Sky have a healthy respect for one another, but Ripley is still yet to beat Sky in singles action. Given the way Ripley lost at SummerSlam, it’s clear that WWE wanted the biggest star in the women’s division to look good even in defeat.
That seemingly will lead to Ripley vs. Sky at some point in the weeks ahead, and after yet another loss in a match involving Sky at WWE SummerSlam, Ripley is going to have to get her win back at some point.
