Wait, what exactly happened to Saturday? Sometimes I honestly don’t know where the time goes. I remember making coffee, getting some writing done, cleaning, yelling at the dogs, cleaning, hiking, grocery shopping, making dinner . . . but it’s all a blur! I did lots of stuff and feel like I basically got nothing actually done. What gives?
Also, when did life turn into this? I remember when days felt long. When I was a kid, days stretched out over vast stretches of time. Maybe that was partially the temporal friction that boredom creates, or if not boredom than idleness. They say that idle hands are the devil’s plaything, but I disagree. That ability to not do anything, to let time elongate and slow down, is one of the gifts of childhood and something most of us forget over time.
We’re always doing something. Even right now, we’re doing a Wordle. Speaking of which . . . .
Today’s Wordle
The Warning: It’s a spoiler! Hey!
The Hint: A good thing to do with one’s mistakes.
The Clue: This word begins with a vowel.
The Answer:
Yeah this is one of those rare mic drop moments. I haven’t gotten a word in two for a very long time and today I got very, very lucky. My dad was talking about how he’s been using irate as his opening word and I thought maybe I’d try that and then I thought, no, I’ll start with the letter “I” but I’ll come up with a different word. Idols popped into my head and I went with it.
At the time, I didn’t realize it had cut my possible solutions down to just five. That may be the best starting guess I’ve ever had, actually. With a ‘D’ in the second spot, I thought it must open with a vowel. I knew it couldn’t be ‘I’ or ‘O’ so I went with ‘A’. There was an ‘E’ word that would have worked—edict—but fortunately for me, I thought of admit first—for the win!
Hu—friggin—zzah!
Happy Sunday, dearest Wordlers. Be lazy and wild.
