Wolverhampton Wanderers Reportedly Offer FC Barcelona $33 Million Plus Ruben Neves For Ansu Fati

Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers have offered €30 million ($33 million) plus Ruben Neves for FC Barcelona forward Ansu Fati, according to SPORT and Relevo.

Fati burst into the Barca first team as a 16-year-old in 2019 but has since had his progress halted by injuries and a failure to make his way into the starting line up on a regular basis under current head coach Xavi Hernandez.

Xavi has publicly backed the number ’10’, who was given the iconic jersey once donned by Lionel Messi after signing a new contract with a €1 billion ($1.01 billion) release clause in 2021.

With Barca steeped in debts and required to shave €200 million ($220 million) from the wage bill in order to sign new players and register new contracts, however, Fati is one of the club’s most sellable assets.

As he was reared in the La Masia academy, any potential offloading of the 20-year-old represents pure profit at the same time fellow struggling wingers Raphinha and Ferran Torres might be moved on too.

Earlier this week, SPORT reported how Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes had guaranteed Barca that a €70 million ($77 million) offer from the Premier League would come in for his client this summer.

Later on Thursday afternoon, the Catalan daily newspaper has confirmed reports from Relevo that Wolverhampton Wanderers have offered the La Liga leaders €30 million ($33 million) plus Neves for Fati.

Barca are currently studying the proposal according to SPORT, but the final word rests with Fati who must make the biggest decision of his career so far in either staying put and fighting for his place at Camp Nou or hitting reset in the English top flight.

Granted Barca would probably hope to make more money off Fati, but a need for reinforcements in this area of the park, where captain Sergio Busquets continues to age and may renew for just one season, could make the deal attractive from a sporting perspective.

Along with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, Neves was once lined up as a potential heir to Busquets but was deemed too expensive at a time when the Blaugrana are unable to splash out huge sums of money.
