AEW Dynamite Winners and Highlights | October 12, 2022

Luchasaurus def. Jungle Boy

As first reported by yours truly, Renee Young has signed with AEW, and the former WWE announcer kicked off the show in front of her fellow countrymen.

Despite his hometown reaction, Christian Cage immediately turned heel on the Toronto Crowd by going after the Maple Leafs, which some fans in the building supported.

Fans were split between Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, and overall, fans seemed to really get behind the idea of Jungle Boy pulling off the upset.

WarJoe def. The Factory

The heel QT Marshall tried to get fans to chant “War Joe” by repeating it over and over, but the fans didn’t bite. Not only is War Joe a silly name, both Wardlow and Samoa Joe seem beneath this.

Samoa Joe received a huge reaction, but not to be outdone, the Power Bomb Symphony was over in Toronto.

Between ROH and The Embassy, Brian Cage’s AEW career has received a couple lifelines and seems on the verge of being revived.

It can be argued that the two hottest acts in AEW are The Acclaimed and FTR.

Sean Spears returned with his Perfect 10 gimmick, worse theme music and as a proud Canadian.

Swerve Strickland def. Billy Gunn

Max Caster came prepared with Justin Trudeau blackface bars.

Billy Gunn teased taking his pants off several times in the early goings of this match.

Billy Gunn (Daddy Ass) received the vast majority of the offense, but Swerve Strickland eventually won with help from the ropes.

After the match, Tony Nese received the most heat in is life for claiming the United States was the greatest country in the world.

Mark Sterling owns the copyright to scissoring, which has the makings of a great storyline.

Jon Moxley and Hangman Adam Page Face Off

There were several veiled references to the CM Punk vs. Young Bucks drama. First, by Jon Moxley who noted some melt down more than others. Then, in an impassioned promo, Hangman Adam Page noted his friends disappeared.

Hangman Adam Page poured his heart into his promo, only for the camera to cut to MJF, looking mildly impressed while munching on popcorn.

Given the fact that AEW is going head-to-head with NXT, I could see MJF cashing in his Casino chip following the AEW World Championship match.

Chris Jericho def. Bryan Danielson

This was a pro-Jericho crowd that sang “Ocho” (to the tune of “Goldberg”) throughout the match.

Fans booed Daniel Garcia when he stopped Chris Jericho from using the ROH World Championship as a weapon, only to cheer him wildly when he finally turned heel on Chris Jericho.

The ROH Pure Championship and the ROH World Championship look almost identical, so when Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia hold them up together, it looks like there’s a fifth tag team championship in AEW.

Hikaru Shida and Toni Storm def. Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter

Every time I see Hikaru Shida, she has a new championship belt that I didn’t even know existed.

Britt Baker continues to do jobs left and right, this time to Hikaru Shida, and it doesn’t seem to be making an ounce of difference for this division.

Orange Cassidy def. PAC

The fact that this was the main event, and not the ROH World Championship where the heel went over—tells me Orange Cassidy has to be the favorite.

PAC mocked Orange Cassidy’s signature low kicks, and got just as big of a reaction.

Despite being in picture-in-picture, PAC stuck Orange Cassidy with a tombstone on the ramp. It was a spot that likely received a loud reaction that the viewing audience could not hear.

A masked individual, revealed to be Danhausen, stopped PAC from using a ring bell. This opened the door for an Orange Cassidy win.
