AEW Dynamite Results | March 16, 2022

Adam Cole and reDRagon def. Hangman Adam Page and Jurassic Express

Luchasaurus now wears barefoot-style shoes and it really makes him seem more like a dragon.

The cameras could barely keep up with Hangman Adam Page’s wild comeback, which really got over with this crowd.

This match featured multiple impressive spots, including a double Doomsday Device and a Triple moonsault, each by the babyface team.

Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley def. Wheeler Yuta and Chuck Taylor

A much more succinct William Regal served as a one-man brochure for the Jon Moxley-Bryan Danielson alliance.

This match did a good job showcasing Wheeler Yuta, who was positioned as the valiant, punchy underdog. At one point, the San Antonio crowd chanted “Yuta!”

After the match, Wheeler Yuta joined Regal, Danielson and Moxley, eliciting even more “”Yuta” chants. He was slapped in the face for his troubles and sent on his way.

The Jericho Appreciation Society Debuts

Swerve Strickland was featured in a segment opposite Team Taz, just as I predicted.

Surprisingly, Chris Jericho continued to use the Judas theme.

Chris Jericho borrowed a page from the WWE playbook by turning heel and blaming fans, just like Edge and Damian Priest before him.

Chris Jericho cemented his heel turn by distinguishing the Jericho Appreciation Society as sports entertainers over pro wrestlers.

If anybody needs more sports entertainment in their character, it’s Daniel Garcia. Even if it’s a heel line, “Sports Entertainment” Daniel Garcia has a chance to be the next Sammy Guevara.

The Jericho Appreciation Society’s mission statement is to “beat up pro wrestlers.”

Scorpio Sky def. Wardlow—TNT Championship

These fans were very hot for Wardlow to win the TNT Championship. This had Raven vs. Goldberg vibes.

AEW did everything to make Wardlow look strong, and even after his loss, they jumped straight to Austin Vanderford so it didn’t linger. Scorpio Sky could be a great heel champion moving forward, and I was happy to see him retain.

The Hardys def. Private Party

San Antonio was going wild for The Hardys, who got the loudest reaction of the night to this point—and that’s saying a lot.

Isiah Kassidy did Jeff Hardy’s dance better than he did.

Hardy landed his entire body weight directly on Kassidy’s boy doing his Swanton Bomb.

AEW really needs to consider putting the AEW Tag Team Championships on The Hardys at some point. They should also consider Darby Allin vs. Jeff Hardy.

Thunder Rosa def. Britt Baker—AEW Women’s World Championship

After a fantastic Mariachi entrance, and in her hometown, there was no way Thunder Rosa was going to lose this match.

Britt Baker wore an outfit in tribute to Scott Hall.

Baker came out solo, but I fully expected Rebel and Jamie Hayter to attempt to scale the cage later on in the match.

Fans chanted “you [expletive] up!” at Britt Baker as they were coming out of break.

Similar to their last match, both Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker bled during this match.

Britt Baker took an eternity setting up a house of cards with several steel chairs. The payoff, of Britt Baker (painfully) falling on top of the chairs, was worth it.

Parts of this match weren’t pretty, but fans were fully invested. This wasn’t superior to their original match, but Thunder Rosa getting her moment led to one of the biggest pops in this company’s history.
