AEW Dynamite Winners and Highlights | December 14, 2022

Death Triangle def. The Elite

Winter is Coming opened with the old-school John Tesh NBA on NBC theme.

This week was definitely a babyface week for The Elite.

Penta, Fenix and Matt Jackson performed one of the most unique three-man Northern Lights suplexes you’ll ever seen.

Nick Jackson was taken out of tis match early, due to an ankle injury, only to make his triumphant return late in the match.

PAC received massive heat by using the hammer on Nick Jackson’s ankle, which led to a submission loss and a 3-1 advantage for Death Triangle.

This whole series has been one big indictment on the AEW officials, since Death Triangle has used a weapon in every match, so Kenny Omega suggested that all weapons are legal for Match 5.

Later in the evening, Excalibur announced that Match 6 would be Falls Count Anywhere, and Match 7 would be a Ladder Match.

Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal and Friends Destroy The Acclaimed

Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh (God, they need a stable name) attacked The Acclaimed just as Max Caster was getting to his Luka Doncic bars. Needless to say, they received massive heat.

The AEW World Tag Team Championships looked like toys in Satnam Singh’s hands.

“Scissor this, Slapnuts,” should be a t-shirt. It’s worth the gimmick infringement fee.

Backstage, Jericho borrowed from the MJF playbook by giving Daniel Garcia an accounabilibuddy in Sammy Guevara. At the end of the promo, Jake Hager screamed “I like this hat!”

Jungle Boy Jack Perry def. Brian Cage

Jungle Boy received a great reaction, but was still selling his neck from last week’s chokeslam on the apron from Big Bill.

In the second straight match that exposed an AEW referee, Aubrey Edwards was distracted by Prince Nana, who slayed in a burgundy velvet suit.

Even though Hook has seldom appeared on Dynamite lately, he received a massive pop and casually ran off Big Bill and Lee Moriarty.

The House of Black def. The Factory

This match was everything you thought it would be. Julia Hart misted The Factory, and it immediately turned into a massacre.

Backstage, AEW continued its AEW Rampage rehabilitation project by booking Britt Baker on AEW Rampage. She’ll be taking on Skye Blue.

Action Andretti def. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho called Action Andretti a jobber, and this had all the makings of a major upset. Fans even chanted “let’s go jobber.”

Fans ironically cheered for Andretti like crazy.

Jericho hit 10 lariats in the corner, and fans chanted “ocho!” on the eighth clothesline.

These fans singlehandedly carried this match. They even chanted “holy s—t” after a garden-variety springboard moonsault. I legitimately wanted Action Andretti to win.

Ruby Soho def. Tay Melo

There was next to no buildup for Ruby Soho’s return to get her revenge for a broken nose. AEW’s women’s division isn’t weak, they just do a bad job of telling their stories.

Soho won clean in a match that should have been so much more heated than it was given the story that fell into their lap.

MJF vs. Ricky Starks

MJF was a 50/1 favorite to win this match. Those might have even been bigger odds than Jericho against Action Andretti.

Fans continued the “ocho” theme while both MJF and Ricky Starks were down for the count. This happened on two separate occasions. Ocho is here to stay.

There were multiple slip-ups toward the end of the match, first with MJF trying to bridge out, and then wiht MJF trying to take a Liger Bomb.

MJF won with a low blow, which somewhat protects the valiant babyface Ricky Starks. This was an excellent world championship match, and even though Ricky Starks was unlikely to win, these fans in Texas were in his corner the whole way and did not waver.

Following the match, MJF was confronted by Bryan Danielson. MJF went running like scalded dog.
