AEW Dynamite: Road Rager advertised a Hair vs. Hair match between Chris Jericho and Ortiz, Wardlow taking on 20 security guards and Dax Harwood vs. Will Ospreay. Dynamite was supposed to feature The Hardys vs. The Young Bucks and Jurassic Express, however these plans were nixed after Jeff Hardy’s suspension following a DUI arrest.

Chris Jericho def. Ortiz

William Regal seemed legitimately excited at the possibility of Jericho going bald as he was giddy while discussing Jericho having to wear a wig while on tour. He was not alone as these fans bit hard on the first nearfall for Ortiz.

Fuego Del Sol was the last person anybody expected to have something to do with this finish. Having said that, del Sol and Jericho will be comedy gold if they’re given the chance to collaborate—nevermind, Fuego del Sol turned out to be Sammy Guevara.

Like a true babyface, Ortiz cut his own hair. Respect.

Wardlow def. 20 Security Guards

The rules were not articulately explained for this match, which apparently was a hybrid battle royal match where security could be eliminated, pinned or submitted.

Each time the security guards were eliminated, they were identified by DashDASH
a as “plaintiffs” being eliminated.

The crowd went quiet for long stretches of this hybrid match as perhaps they were confused as well.

Dan Lambert instructed Tyron Woodley and Matt Hughes to attack Wardlow, but the big man showed off his cerebral side by outsmarting the St. Louis natives by telling them not to take instructions from “some rich asshole in a skybox.”

Will Ospreay def. Dax Harwood

Fans were very lukewarm for Will Ospreay’s entrance after Dax Harwood received a huge pop, but then they went into Pavlovian chants of “let’s go Harwood/let’s go Ospreay.”

Poor Excalibur had to explain all the acronyms within the male hardcore wrestling zeitgeist such as NJPW and IWGP.

Dax Harwood is such a babyface, he even went to the top ropes to deliver a flying headbutt. Similar to the last time an FTR member tried a high-risk maneuver, it backfired.

The pop was underwhelming, but the applause was long and well-deserved for Will Ospreay’s Dynamite debut. They went dead silent for a bunch of NJPW gaijins they didn’t recognize, then exploded for Orange Cassidy, whose denim is even darker now.

Moxley and Tanahashi Face to Face

Jon Moxley did a great job carrying this segment, as you knew he would. Fans were into this segment, even chanting “Tanahashi.”

Before he could speak, Hiroshi Tanahashi was bailed out out by a surprise appearance from Chris Jericho. Tanahashi received a loud pop for telling Jericho to “shut up!”

Chris Jericho had to introduce two new members of the Jericho Appreciation Society (Sammy and Tay), narrate near-coitus between Sammy and Tay, explain what a Suzuki Gun was and promote a six-man tag team match all in one promo. It was very TNA-like, but the he pulled it off because he’s a GOAT.

Miro def. Ethan Page

Excalibur continued to explain convoluted NJPW information to the audience regarding the All-Atlantic tournament, and it all went over my head.

These fans were very much into Miro. They didn’t react much to Ethan Page’s entrance, but that’s because they rarely hear Page’s singles music.

Page hilariously put Miro’s hands together to make it seem as if he were praying. Miro got the big win, but not before super kicking Lambert off the mat.

Miro is the only man in this tournament who can put the All-Atlantic Championship on the level of a world title. Simply by becoming God’s new favorite champion.

Toni Storm def. Britt Baker

Dasha Fuentes slipped up during Britt Baker’s entrance when she almost said “Brittsburgh” instead of Pittsburgh.

Toni Storm’s theme music is so underrated.

A lot of people have been bitching about how stiff Toni Storm is with her running hip attack. Britt Baker and Toni Storm brilliantly used that to their advantage by making it seem like Britt was legit hurt. A lot of “I Told You that Hip Attack was Dangerous!” tweets were deleted in drafts.

I was convinced this match was designed to get Britt Baker’s heat back, but to my surprise, Toni Storm beat Baker again.

Hangman Adam Page Speaks

Kazuchika Okada losing the IWGP Championship is yet another monkey wrench thrown into an already convoluted Forbidden Door show.

Jay White was yet another stranger with a belt who crashed an AEW promo. He attacked Hangman Adam Page and politely waited for a reaction.

White claimed that Adam Cole nor Hangman Adam Page were getting a world title shot at Forbidden Door.

The Young Bucks def. Jurassic Express

Crazy as it sounds, this ladder match might have been made better without the Hardys.

The opening sequence was a furious chain of spots that saw Nick Jackson fly onto the ladder only for Jungle Boy to do a hurricanrana immediately after.

There were three table spots back-to-back-to-back that have to be seen to be believed.

After the Young Bucks won, Christian got all kinds of TV time, he begun to help Jungle Boy out of the ring and then predictably turned on him in front of Jungle Boy’s family.
