WWE NXT Stand and Deliver Winners and Grades

Indi Hartwell Wins NXT Championship Women’s Ladder Match

Fans popped for Indi Hartwell and Tiffany Stratton scaling the ladder to win.

Indi Hartwell wasted precious time while setting up the ladder, forcing Vic Joseph to bark out “don’t think about it, Indi, move!”

This awesome Ladder Match received well-deserved “this is awesome” chants.

As expected, Jacy Jayne crashed the ladder match to knock Gigi Dolin off the ladder, crashing onto another ladder.

Tiffany Stratton took a nasty bump to the outside where the women barely caught her. This opened up the door for Indi Hartwell, who once again took forever to climb the ladder due to her ribs. Dexter Lumis came in to make the assist to a huge pop and Indi won. The crowd explodes, and it was a perfect finish.

NXT Women’s Championship Ladder Match Grade: A

NXT Championship Triple Threat Match

Tony D’Angelo and Stacks’ entrance incorporated additional members of the family, while Gallus’ entrance began, cinematically, from a pub.

Daniel Cormier was shown in the crowd and Booker T seemed legit starstruck.

One of the highlights was the Creed Brothers performing a stereo moonsault off the apron and onto the field.

This was a fine match, but one with not a lot of build and the wrong finish. It also had trouble following a very hot opener.

Backstage, Pretty Deadly got into a skirmish with The Family after trolling them about their loss.

NXT Championship Triple Threat Grade: B-

NXT North American Championship Fatal 5-Way

I don’t know how Booker T came up with the math, but he insisted Axiom would be 30% better if he wins the WWE NXT North American Championship.

This match began with a makeshift Triple Threat between Wes Lee, Axiom and Dragon Lee, and their high-flying exchange led to a polite applause.

While Axiom was scaling the ropes, Wes Lee hit him with a Shoryuken uppercut.

It was like pulling teeth trying to get these fans to really get into this match, which was technically sound but not extremely heated. Perhaps the show was still struggling to follow the opener.

Fans came alive when Ilja Dragunuv stopped a three-count for JD McDonough by grabbing the referee’s arm.

Booker T questioned if JD McDonough is dangerous, moments after calling him dangerous, and Vic Joseph wasted no time calling him out for it.

After trusting in the process, and pulling off a series of amazing spots, fans ultimately got on board in a big way, chanting “fight forever.” The match received a standing ovation in the end.

NXT North American Title Fatal 5-Way Grade: A+

Grayson Waller vs. Johnny Gargano

Grayson Waller’s entrance aired simultaneously on Instagram Live, and even featured yet another cameo from WWE superfan and former Road Rules contestant Mark Long.

Candice LeRae was featured throughout this match while holding Baby Quinn, which obviously was going to play into the story of this match.

Seconds into the match, Vic Joseph had to stop himself from saying “holy sh—t,” and Booker T took a bump.

Grayson Waller continued to threaten Vic Joseph to play up Joseph and Gargano’s friendship.

The first “holy s—t” chant was inspired by a Johnny Gargano suplex to the outside on two rows of chairs.

There was a great spot where Candice LeRae gave her baby to the nanny and hopped the barricade to pummel Waller with kendo stick shots.

There were dueling chants of “Johnny Wrestling” and “Grayson Waller” throughout this match.

Gargano connected with a brutal chairshot to Grayson Walle while another chair was draped over his neck. This led to the Gargano Escape, where Vic Joseph screamed “squeeze! Squeeze!

Grayson Waller vs. Johnny Gargano Grade: A+

Alba Fyre and Alba Dawn def. Kiana James and Fallon Henley

Josh Briggs held Brooks Jenson back from interrupting the three count on Kiana James. Briggs also stopped Jenson from handing Kiana james her loaded purse.

This match had no chance to follow a murderers row of great matches on this show.

Surprisingly, the Sebastian storyline was not paid off during this match.

NXT Women’s Tag Title Match Grade: C+

Carmelo Hayes def. Bron Breakker

Carmelo Hayes was clearly the babyface in this match as fans chanted “Melo” during his entrance. Fans booed Bron Breakker during his ring announcement.

Surprisingly, Bron Breakker had nothing to kick down during this entrance.

Poor Carmelo slipped during a springboard attempt, but he recovered perfectly and tried it again, only for Breakker to thwart his attempt because he was prepared. It was so well done, I’m wondering if that was all planned.

Fans booed loudly when Trick Williams was kicked out.

Bron Breakker won fans over with an impressive and highly athletic Frankensteiner on Hayes.

A Spear from Breakker resulted in a ref bump, and fans immediately began looking toward the entrance way. Instead, as Carmelo Hayes was tapping out, Trick Williams came from the crowd and hit Bron Breakker with the NXT Championship. Breakker kicked out at an extremely close nearfall, inspiring faint “that was three” chants.

Despite the shady loss, Bron Breakker showed good sportsmanship and handed Hayes the NXT Championship.
