WWE SmackDown on FS1 advertised Roman Reigns and LA Knight coming face-to-face to make their Crown Jewel world title match official. SmackDown also advertised follow-up on the return of Bianca Belair and an appearance by John Cena to address his announced match against Solo Sikoa. Last week, Cena reveled it’s been over 2,000 days since the last time he won a televised singles match.

Last week’s broadcast of WWE SmackDown garnered 2.253 million viewers.

WWE SmackDown Winners and Grades

LA Knight Vs. Roman Reigns Contract Signing

LA Knight was so dialed in during this promo as he continued to do his best work opposite Roman Reigns. It feels like a tryout to see if LA Knight can hang in the main event long-term, and so far, he’s passing with flying colors.

Roman Reigns was limited in what he had to say, and his main contribution to this segment was flipping the table in the middle of Knight’s catchphrase. Knight got the better of the exchange by putting Jimmy Uso through a table.

Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight Contract Signing Grade: B+

The Street Profits Def. LWO

The Street Profits have new theme music and it’s every bit as memorable as they’ve been since this mishandled heel turn.

This heel stable would work so much better if the Street Profits could be obnoxious heels and show their actual personality. My idea of a Nation of Domination reboot remains superior to what WWE has done with these glorified henchmen thus far.

Rey Mysterio was attacked in the back by Logan Paul, prompting Santos Escobar to tell Carlito to help Rey. This led to Santos walking into a loss to the Street Profits with their new finisher “The Revelation.”

Street Profits vs. LWO Grade: B-

Shotzi Def. Chelsea Green

Shotzi has been ubiquitous during Halloween week between guest-hosting Halloween Havoc and wearing a Halloween-inspired fit tonight. In fact, Shotzi’s gear was made out of a legit straight jacket.

Michael Cole tried to talk up Chelsea Green as an impressive competitor, which she is, but you’d never know it by he way she’s been booked in WWE.

This match was used to hype next week’s Women’s Tag Team Title match on NXT
XT
pitting Green and Piper Niven against Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail. But the defending champion lost to neither.

Chelsea Green vs. Shotzi Grade: C

Solo Sikoa Destroys John Cena

John Cena was serious cut a great promo questioning whether or not he still had it. Fans chanted “you still got it…” but Cena responded “do I?” It felt like an intervention with his fanbase, and they didn’t want to accept reality.

Cena called his match against Solo Sikoa “must win,” but now I kind of want him to lose the match because this Cena in Winter storyline has potential. Cena grasping with the end of his career through WrestleMania has the makings of a great storyline.

Paul Heyman shrugged off “what” chants and told John Cena he was the greatest communicator in WWE history, which was WWE speak for saying Cena is WWE’s greatest promo guy.

Heyman threatened that Cena would lose his voice if Solo Sikoa hits the Samoan Spike. Outside of maybe Ridge Holland, there has never been evidence of anybody losing their voice after taking the Samoan Spike. Cena went on to take the Spike, so I’ll be paying close attention to whether or not he speaks again.

John Cena Segment Grade: A

Dragon Lee Def. Cedric Alexander

Cedric Alexander gave Dragon Lee the cliff notes of his entire tenure in WWE—namely his success during the Cruiserweight Classic—before challenging him.

Surprisingly, Lee vs. Alexander received a commercial break and was quite competitive for a showcase match.

Dragon Lee vs. Cedric Alexander Grade: B-

Bianca Belair Promo

Bianca Belair cut a promo confirming she received a rematch against Iyo Sky. It was pretty uneventful considering it was Bianca’s return promo.

If Bianca Belair continues to get screwed in her next title match against, does this tie into past Bianca Belair screw jobs, where she became increasingly frustrated, or are we starting with a clean slate?

Bianca Belair Promo Grade: B-

LA Knight Def. Jimmy Uso

Michael Cole assured the viewing public that somebody is going to beat Roman Reigns between Crown Jewel and “five years from now.”

Fans chanted “Jimmy sucks!” and “Jey is better” at Jimmy, and that had to sting.

Fans started chanting “this is awesome,” but it was almost as if they chanted this because they didn’t know what else to do.

Knight laid out Roman Reigns with the BFT to end SmackDown. I’d be shocked if he came anywhere near winning next Saturday.

LA Knight vs. Jimmy Uso Grade: B
