AEW Dynamite Winners And Grades

Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin and Sting def. Butcher, Blade and Kip Sabian

Sting’s impression of Orange Cassidy is so underapreciated, and like anything he does in front of this audience, it gets over every time.

Orange Cassidy continues to be a perfect opening match wrestler.

Darby Allin was fixated on the Double or Nothing banner as Excalibur reminded the audience of the Pillars challenging MJF for the AEW World Championship.

Trios Opener Grade: B+

The Gunn Club def. Top Flight

The Gunn Club scored the victory after Mike Bennett and Matt Taven interfered. Nobody in the building knew why they were there except for the seven people subscribed to Honor Club.

Following this match, FTR hit the ring and challenged The Gunn Club to a match for the AEW Tag Team Championships. If FTR loses, they will never leave AEW forever.

Gunn Club vs. Top Flight Grade: C+

Hook def. Stokely Hathaway

As part of his entrance, Justin Roberts said of Stokely Hathaway “he’s not as large as the men he represents but he has the heart of a lion and the wisdom of an owl.”

Hathaway wore a Pan African leotard that looked even cooler in person.

Hathaway tried to retire before the match, however Hook chased him down and gave these people the no-disqualification beatdown they wanted.

Hook vs. Stokely Hathaway Grade: B-

Adam Cole Returns

Adam Cole was massively over in Independence, Mo., and was just as over in Inglewood when he returned. It was something to behold live. After his return match, hopefully AEW learns its lesson and doesn’t wait another month or so to follow up.

Cole was promptly interrupted by Daniel Garcia, who caught massive heat from the fans who chanted “shut the [expletive] up!”

Garcia cut a very good promo as he continues to improve on the mic despite a wooden delivery. Garcia even planted seeds of an inevitable split with the Jericho Appreciation Society by accidentally saying he was a “wrestler” rather than a sports entertainer.

Adam Cole-Daniel Garcia Promo Grade: B

Jon Moxley def. Stu Grayson

The Blackpool Combat Club seem so much more comfortable as heels, but like most heels in AEW, these people are going crazy for them because they can wrestle.

Jon Moxley continues to incorporate more technical wrestling holds in his matches. Despite his reputation as a blood-and-guts brawler, Moxley is an underappreciated mat technician.

This was a very good match that ended with an avalanche Death Rider (from the top rope), and surprisingly enough, Jon Moxley didn’t bleed one drop of blood.

The Blackpool Combat Club continued to run roughshod backstage. After allegedly sending the Young Bucks to the hospital, they laid waste to Stu Grayson.

Jon Moxley vs. Stu Grayson Grade: A-

Toni Storm def. Skye Blue

Toni Storm brutalized Skye Blue in an impressive win. Though her snap piledriver (Storm Zero) doesn’t seem like it hurts at all.

Skye Blue continues to rack up losses to Toni Storm, but it doesn’t seem like AEW has any plans for Skye Blue to get her comeuppance.

Toni Storm vs. Skye Blue Grade: B-

Kenny Omega def. El Hijo Del Vikingo

El Hijo Del Vikingo is insanely talented, but the vast majority of television viewers have never heard of him until tonight. Sounds like it’s Forbidden Door season.

Kenny Omega’s superstar entrances from Justin Roberts are back, and it’s been too long.

This was a phenomenal debut for Vikingo, who broke out high-flying moves that were insane even by AEW’s standards. This included a dragonrana to the outside and a springboard Phoenix Splash.

Vikingo also pulled off a running 630 through a table off the middle rope. It was every bit as unbelievable as it sounds.

Nobody does random wrestling matches with no storyline better than AEW, and this was one of the best AEW wrestling matches for the sake of wrestling I’ve seen in some time.

AEW Dynamite ended with the Blackpool Combat Club mauling Kenny Omega after a hard fought win. Omega was saved by Hangman Adam Page, who drove an ambulance to the building.

Don Callis took a phantom bump to trick Kenny Omega into thinking Hangman Adam Page attacked him. The Elite reunion also seems like it will coincide with a Callis-Omega split.
