Will There Be A ‘Finding Her Edge’ Season 2? Here’s Everything To Know So Far

A new swoon-worthy young adult love triangle has skated its way onto our TV screens. Netflix’s freshman teen romance series Finding Her Edge premiered on Jan. 22, and it didn’t take long for viewers to start asking: Will there be a Season 2?

Based on Jennifer Iacopelli’s 2022 novel of the same name, Finding Her Edge centers on Adriana Russo, a competitive ice dancer who’s forced to lace up her skates again after her sister suffers an injury. With her family’s ice rink on the line and her parents’ Olympic legacy hanging in the balance, Adriana dives back into the sport and straight into a love triangle with her former skating partner and ex-boyfriend, Freddie O’Connell, and Brayden Elliot, the “bad boy” of ice dancing.

After partnering together following Elise’s injury, Adriana and Brayden enter into a fake relationship — dubbed “Braydriana” by the media — to attract sponsors and save her family’s ice rink. But what initially begins as a strategic move gets complicated when Brayden begins developing real feelings for Adriana.

Ambrozic, who plays Brayden, told Swooon that their relationship shifts once Brayden realizes he could open up to her without judgment. “I don’t think he’s ever really done that before,” he said.

That tension comes to a head at the World Championships, where Adriana and Brayden face off against Freddie and Riley. Adriana and Brayden take the win with a 98.36, narrowly beating Freddie and Riley’s 98.14. But instead of celebrating with her partner, Adriana kisses Freddie in the middle of the rink, making it clear that her relationship with Brayden was always just for show.

When Brayden leaves Adriana alone on the ice during one of the biggest moments of her life, her sisters step in to join her, a moment Madelyn Keys said meant the most to her character.

“Winning Worlds was such a public moment, and Brayden didn’t hug her—she was left alone on the ice, seen by everyone in the stands and on TV,” Keys explained to TIME. “Then, unexpectedly, her two sisters—who had sworn off the ice—joined her. That’s a powerful reminder that she’s not completely alone in the world, she has her sisters there for her.”

How Does Finding Her Edge Season 1 End?

By the end of Finding Her Edge, Adriana finally makes her choice, and she chooses to be with Freddie over Brayden. The two are offered the chance to skate together again and happily accept. But Brayden’s not completely out of the picture yet; he returns to the rink as part of the Voltage program, a professional skating organization that buys the Russo Rink and clears the family’s debt. He’s now skating with Riley, Freddie’s former partner.

Season one closes with Adriana and Freddie back together on the ice.

“What I’ll say is that Adriana is the type of character who very rarely does what she wants simply because she wants it,” author Iacopelli told Elle about Adriana choosing Freddie in the finale. “And what she wants at the end of season 1—and at the end of the first book—is Freddie. She’s been in love with him her entire life, and she wants to give those feelings a chance.”

Will There Be A Finding Her Edge Season 2?

As of now, Netflix hasn’t officially renewed Finding Her Edge for Season 2. However, the main cast and the book’s author already have plenty of ideas for where the story could go next.

“The writers did such an incredible job of giving season 1 its own story while setting up so many new possibilities for drama in a potential season 2,” Iacopelli told Elle. “I can’t wait to see how Adriana and Freddie handle finally being together while they skate together.”

She added, “I’m so curious how we’ll see Brayden and Riley develop after being thrown together, both feeling betrayed by their former partners.”

Ambrozic told the site that for his character, Brayden, “choosing to skate with a new partner who is so close to home is a little bit petty, and definitely a little bit of a revenge plan,” he said. “I think you could tell by the look [he gives Adriana]. But I thought we ended on a really great note for season 2, God willing.”

Meanwhile, Olly Atkins told Elle he’d love to see Freddie let loose a bit in Season 2. “I’d like to see his competitive spirit unlocked. I think that, with all of this history that he has in really compacting down his emotions and controlling how he expresses how he feels, I want to see him let loose. I think it would be really, really fun to play with.”

Keys also hopes Adriana continues to grow as an individual beyond the rink. “I want to see her be more engaged in the other people in her lives and realize that not everything is about her sometimes,” she said to Elle. “I’d love her to be more of a support for not only her father, but also for the other people in her life.”

Who Could Return For Finding Her Edge Season 2?

If Netflix renews Finding Her Edge for another season, most of the Season 1 cast will likely reprise their roles, especially after the main cast expressed their desire to return in interviews with Swooon.

That would mean the likely return of Keys as Adriana Russo, Ambrozic as Brayden Elliott, Atkins as Freddie O’Connell, Alexandra Beaton as Elise Russo, Alice Malakhov as Maria Russo, Millie Davis as Riley Monroe and Harmon Walsh as Will Russo.

For now, fans will have to wait and see what the streamer decides. Stay tuned for more updates.
