Ethereum Co-Founder, Vitalik Buterin has announced that he now only plans to publicly mention L2 projects that have crossed stage 1, in order to uphold the standards of the ecosystem.
Sharing a picture on X, Vitalik tweeted that irrespective of his investments of projects developed by friends, from next year, he plans to only talk about L2s in blogs or talks, etc that are stage 1+, or with “maybe a short grace period” for new genuinely interesting projects.
He claimed, “Multiple ZK-rollup teams have told me they’re on track to be stage 1 by year end. I’m excited to see that happen!”
Emphasizing his decision to treat a project as a rollup if it has actually reached at least stage 1, Vitalik said, “Of course we should not throw away training wheels become we’re actually confident that the proof systems are secure; that would be irresponsible. But stage 1 (75% threshold on council to override the proof system, 26%+ of council must be outside the rollup team) is a very reasonable moderate milestone.”
Vitalik also updated users about the multisigs projects that he is in and did not witness a ‘single liveness failure in years, let alone 26%’.
Moreover, Vitalik professed the end of the era of rollups being glorified multisigs as he asserted that it is now the time for cryptographic trust. His statements come days after Vitalik talked about him not investing in L2 tokens and making ETH sales not for profit but for charity and supporting research and development in undervalued areas.
Vitalik was once again drilled about him selling ETHs today, and he said it was a last sale which was activated by an automatic cowswap twap order that was set up way back on Aug 29.
