Why Tom Holland Is Excited For Deadpool 3

After the ground-breaking success of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s charming take on both Peter Parker and Spidey in various Marvel movies, and projects where the 27-year-old actor was able to flex his acting range like The Devil All the Time (2020) and Cherry (2021), the UK native is poised to be a major fixture in Hollywood for years to come.

While promoting his latest project, Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room, premiering June 9, Holland looked back fondly on what he and fellow Spider-Man actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire were able to pull off on the big screen a couple years ago.

“We obviously had a wonderful connection, the three of us,” Tom told me during The Crowded Room’s junket on Thursday. “We’d all been through something that was so unique that we’re the only three people that have ever done it. And it was an amazing thing to share. I am so forever grateful for that experience. We had a wonderful moment on set with me, Andrew, Tobey, and (No Way Home producer) Amy Pascal, who is somewhat like our mom, and I will never forget that.”

On Wednesday, Pascal told Variety that a fourth Spider-Man flick with Holland and Zendaya is still in the works.

Tom had some high praise for Deadpool 3’s Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, who recently began filming the third Deadpool installment, when asked if he ever thought about sharing the screen with the actors in a Marvel project.

“Yeah, of course I have. I’m a big fan of both of those guys,” Tom told me. “I’m sure the film is going to be fantastic. I know they have George Cottle (Jr.) on their side right now as their stunt coordinator and second unit director. You couldn’t ask for a better guy. So I’m very excited for the film. I wish them all the best and I can’t wait to see those two go at it.”

Cottle Jr. was also the stunt coordinator on all three of Holland’s solo Spidey films and was the second unit director on Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and No Way Home.

In The Crowded Room, Holland plays “Danny Sullivan”, who is arrested after being involved in a shooting in New York City in 1979. The thriller is told through a series of interviews with investigator “Rya Goodwin” (Amanda Seyfried). Danny’s life story is revealed through the interviews, including the mysterious past that shaped him, as well as all the twists and turns that lead him to a life-changing revelation.

The Crowded Room premiers internationally with three episodes on Friday, June 9, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday through July 28, exclusively on Apple TV+. The series was inspired by the 1981 non-fiction novel The Minds Of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes.

Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase and Lior Raz —along with guest stars Jason Isaacs, Christopher Abbott, Thomas Sadoski and Zachary Golinger— are also included in the show’s cast.
