Who’s In The ‘Superman’ Cast? Meet David Corenswet And His Costars

Summer movie season is in full swing, and the star-studded Superman film is heating up the box office.

The latest Superman reboot, written and directed by James Gunn, is set three years after the Man of Steel (played by David Corenswet) announced himself as Superman, the most powerful metahuman on Earth. But in his regular life in Metropolis, he flies under the radar as Clark Kent, a reporter at the Daily Planet.

Superman currently has an 83% critics score and 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and nabbed $217 million worldwide in its opening weekend. If those ratings and box office numbers are any indication, Superman is off to a promising start as the first movie in the revamped DC Extended Universe (DCEU).

David Corenswet As Clark Kent/Superman

Superman is Corenswet’s biggest role to date. He previously played an aspiring actor named Jack Castello in the limited series Hollywood and a popular high school student named River Barkley in the TV show The Politician. More recently, Corenswet starred in the horror film Pearl and the disaster movie Twisters.

Rachel Brosnahan As Lois Lane

Brosnahan portrays Lois Lane, an intrepid reporter at the Daily Planet and the titular superhero’s love interest.

Brosnahan earned widespread recognition and her first Emmy nomination for guest starring as Rachel Posner on House of Cards. She’s perhaps best known for her Emmy-winning role as Midge Maisel on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which lasted for five seasons between 2017 and 2023.

Nicholas Hoult As Lex Luthor

Hoult stars as the DC Comics supervillain and No. 1 Superman hater Lex Luthor.

After his breakout role as a child actor in About a Boy, Hoult starred as Tony Stonem in the popular U.K. teen drama series Skins. He’s no stranger to franchises, having portrayed Nux in Mad Max: Fury Road and Hank McCoy/Beast in the X-Men movies. Hoult later landed an Emmy nomination for his role as Peter III of Russia in the Hulu satire series The Great. He’s also starred in critically acclaimed films like The Menu, Juror #2 and Nosferatu.

Nathan Fillion As Guy Gardner/Green Lantern

Guy is a member of the Justice Gang who sports a comic book-inspired bowl cut and wears a power ring.

Fillion is known for his roles on shows like Firefly, Castle and The Rookie. He’s also done plenty of voice work throughout his career for films, TV shows and video games. Fillion previously played T.D.K. in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and Master Karja in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Edi Gathegi As Michael Holt/Mister Terrific

Mister Terrific is part of the Justice Gang and is the third-smartest person in the world.

Gathegi previously starred as the vampire Laurent in the Twilight franchise, the mutant Darwin in X-Men: First Class and Dev Ayesa in the Apple TV+ show For All Mankind.

Isabela Merced As Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl

Merced rounds out the Justice Gang as the mace-wielding metahuman named Hawkgirl.

Merced is known for her portrayal of Dora the Explorer in the 2019 movie Dora and the Lost City of Gold. She also played Anya Corazón in the comic book movie Madame Web and starred as Dina in season two of The Last of Us.

María Gabriela de Faría As Angela Spica/The Engineer

The Engineer’s blood is infused with nanites that can form anything she can imagine.

De Faría, who’s from Venezuela, has primarily appeared in South American projects like Isa TKM, El paseo 2, Grachi and Yo Soy Franky.

Anthony Carrigan As Rex Mason/Metamorpho

Metamorpho can morph his body into any known substance.

Carrigan is known for playing NoHo Hank in the series Barry, which earned him three Emmy nominations. He also had roles on shows like The Flash and Gotham.

Skyler Gisondo As Jimmy Olsen

Jimmy is a journalist at the Daily Planet. Prior to getting cast in Superman, Gisondo was a popular choice to play Jimmy.

Gisondo rose to fame through his parts in the coming-of-age films Booksmart and Licorice Pizza. He’s also known for starring as Eric Bemis in the Netflix comedy series Santa Clarita Diet and Gideon Gemstone in the HBO show The Righteous Gemstones.

Mikaela Hoover As Cat Grant

Cat also works at the Daily Planet, as a columnist.

Hoover is one of many actors who have frequently collaborated with Gunn, with roles in Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Suicide Squad.

Wendell Pierce As Perry White

Perry White is the editor-in-chief of Daily Planet.

Pierce is known for starring as Bunk Moreland on the HBO show The Wire, but he’s also appeared on series like Suits, Chicago P.D. and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. More recently, he played a congressman in Marvel’s Thunderbolts.

Beck Bennett As Steve Lombard

Steve is a reporter at the Daily Planet, played by comedian and Saturday Night Live alum Bennett.

Sara Sampaio As Eve Teschmacher

The model and Victoria’s Secret Angel plays Lex Luthor’s girlfriend who frequently spends her time taking selfies.

Frank Grillo As Rick Flag Sr.

Grillo recently voiced the government official character in Gunn’s animated series Creature Commandos and will reprise his role as Rick Flag Sr. on season two of Peacemaker.

Before Superman, Grillo had a recurring role as Nick Savrinn on the show Prison Break and Marvel fans will recognize him for playing Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in the Captain America movies and Avengers: Endgame.
