Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas
Scores: 37/40 (Carrie Ann 9, Derek 9, Cheryl 9, Bruno 10)
Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas performed a Jazz to “Brain Stew” by Green Day.
Cheryl started by saying their partnership continues to impress her, and she praised Mark’s choreography. However, she did notice some timing issues in the side-by-side. Bruno called the dance a mind-blowing routine packed with Jazz elements, while Derek appreciated the nuance, musicality, creativity and texture. Carrie Ann agreed with Cheryl that some parts were out of sync, and she encouraged Whitney to still enjoy the process and not be afraid to make mistakes.
Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa
Scores: 34/40 (Carrie Ann 9, Derek 8, Cheryl 8, Bruno 9)
Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa performed a Contemporary to “Elastic Heart” by Sia.
Bruno loved the story and passion behind the dance. Carrie Ann said she was excited to see Jordan exploring new movement vocabulary, but noted that Jordan struggled at times with the prop. Derek appreciated the acrobatics and athleticism, though he felt the execution wasn’t fully realized. Cheryl concluded by saying she wants to see their partnership and trust reflected in their movements.
Andy Richter and Emma Slater
Scores: 28/40 (Carrie Ann 7, Derek 7, Cheryl 7, Bruno 7)
Andy Richter and Emma Slater performed a Paso Doble to “Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67: I. Allegro con brio” by Ludwig van Beethoven.
Carrie Ann praised Andy for his “mystery magic” and said he keeps getting better every week. Derek ripped his six-score board in half and applauded Andy’s commitment to the performance. Bruno added that Andy captured the cold, classic horror, while Cheryl called Andy the “heart of this show” and noted that he showcased some technique.
Danielle Fishel and Pasha Pashkov
Scores: 33/40 (Carrie Ann 8, Derek 8, Cheryl 8, Bruno 9)
Danielle Fishel and Pasha Pashkov performed a Viennese Waltz to “Die With A Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.
Cheryl called the dance an amazing, proper waltz, but said she wants to see more raw, authentic emotion moving forward. Bruno added that he felt the routine deeply and loved it. Carrie Ann said she had mixed emotions about the dance; there are moments when she sees progress, while at other times, Danielle feels small. Derek concluded that while he loved watching her dance, she still lacked torso movement and fluidity. “It felt a little bit stuck,” he commented.
Robert Irwin and Witney Carson
Scores: 38/40 (Carrie Ann 10, Derek 9, Cheryl 9, Bruno 10)
Robert Irwin and Witney Carson performed an Argentine Tango to “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This” by The Hampton String Quartet.
Bruno said Robert literally killed the routine and commended the dance’s style. Carrie Ann said she believed Robert was the leading man and that he was in complete control of his dance. Derek praised the opening move, the strength, Robert’s partnership with Witney, and the lifts. Cheryl said she couldn’t believe Robert had no dance experience, but she issued one small critique about his footwork.
Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik
Scores: 32/40 (Carrie Ann 8, Derek 8, Cheryl 8, Bruno 8)
Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik performed a Contemporary to “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift.
Carrie Ann said the opening was off the charts, with sharper, well-defined movements that were amazing. However, she noticed some inconsistency. Derek praised Jan for having a fantastic first season, but agreed with Carrie Ann. He urged Jen to stretch her feet during the fan kicks. Cheryl called this their best dance of the season, but wants them to work on connecting movements. Bruno told Jen to let the beast out and added that whenever Jen overthinks, she loses momentum.
Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy
Scores: 39/40 (Carrie Ann 10, Derek 10, Cheryl 9, Bruno 10)
Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy performed a Tango to “bury a friend” by Billie Eilish.
Derek applauded the routine as chilling, intense, sharp and controlled. Bruno called the dance “drop dead good” and highlighted Alix’s incredible footwork. Cheryl said the tango is full of passion and fire, and she delivered it all (though Cheryl didn’t like how they broke hold). Carrie Ann concluded by saying she has “mad respect” for Alix for joining the process. “That was brilliant,” she said.
Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach
Scores: 35/40 (Carrie Ann 9, Derek 9, Cheryl 8, Bruno 9)
Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach performed a Viennese Waltz to “Can’t Help Falling In Love (DARK)” by Tommee Profitt and Brooke.
Cheryl said they are the most improved couple of the season. She advised Dylan to keep his hips tucked and lead with his legs rather than his upper body. Carrie Ann noted that what sets Dylan apart from other contestants is his ability to understand the emotional intention behind every move. Derek called the routine smooth as velvet and praised the chemistry and storytelling. Bruno quipped that no one watching was thinking about the waltz because it was so sexy. He said Dylan was a convincing lead, which is difficult.

Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten were slated to perform an Argentine Tango to “Bad to the Bone” by 2WEI and Bri Bryant. However, during the show, Co-host Alfonso Ribeiro revealed that Elaine had suffered an injury during rehearsal and was currently at the hospital being evaluated.
“Elaine and I were dancing, then all of a sudden, Elaine kind of froze and said she can’t move and she can’t breathe, and something happened with her rib,” Alan said during the morning rehearsal. “She’s in so much pain; I don’t know if we’re going to dance tonight. I just hope this isn’t the end of Elaine’s dream to dance again.”
Ribeiro said the doctors cleared Elaine to stay in the competition if she survives tonight’s elimination. Since she couldn’t dance live, the show’s rules state that she will be judged on her last full rehearsal, which was then played for the judges and viewers.
Scores: 32/40 (Carrie Ann 8, Derek 8, Cheryl 8, Bruno 8)
After watching the rehearsal, Derek began by telling Elaine that everyone loves her. He noted that Elaine is a born performer and looked impressive even in rehearsal. Cheryl said she’s a huge fan of Elaine and believes they’ve been underrated in previous weeks. Bruno told Alan that he did a great job with the content, lines, placement, and choreography. Carrie Ann said she was brokenhearted about Elaine’s injury, especially after last week’s success, but noted that Elaine looked amazing during rehearsal and that the chemistry was there.
