Taylor Swift is giving her record-breaking Eras Tour the sendoff it deserves. On the heels of The Life of a Showgirl’s dazzling release, the pop star announced two new Disney+ projects arriving in December that will bring the final chapter of her historic tour to fans’ screens.
On Monday, Oct. 13, Good Morning America announced that Swift is bringing “the streaming event of the era to Disney+” with a six-part docuseries titled Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The End of an Era and a new concert film, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show, shot at the tour’s finale in Vancouver, B.C.
“It was the End of an Era and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety,” Swift wrote on Instagram alongside the trailer.
The six-episode docuseries will offer fans an intimate look into Taylor’s life on the road during the 21-month tour. “We have broken every single record you can break with this tour. The only thing left is to close the book,” Swift says in the teaser trailer.
The series will also highlight “performers, family members, and friends” including tour openers Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter and special guests Ed Sheeran and Florence Welch, according to Variety.
The concert film will also mark the first time fans can see Swift’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, on the big screen. The original Eras Tour film, which was released two years ago today, debuted in theaters before the album came out.
Seven tracks from TTPT were added to the singer’s Eras Tour setlist in Europe. This included abbreviated renditions of “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?”, “Fortnight,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” and “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart,” along with samples from “So High School” and “Down Bad.”
So how long will you have to wait to watch Swift’s latest projects? Here’s what to know about the multi-part release schedule for The End of an Era and premiere date for The Final Show.
