Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, is new in theaters on Wednesday. When will you be able to stream it at home?
Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One), Jurassic World Rebirth is the seventh film in the Jurassic Park movie series, which began with director Steven Spielberg’s classic in 1993.
The summary for Jurassic Park Rebirth reads, “Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived.
“The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”
Johansson stars as Zora Bennett in the film, while Baily plays Dr. Henry Loomis and Ali plays Duncan Kincaid. Jurassic World Rebirth also stars Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein.
The first stop for Universal Pictures’ Jurassic Park Rebirth in the home entertainment marketplace will be on digital streaming via premium video on demand. Typically, it takes about 18 to 30 days after Universal’s films open in theaters to debut on PVOD, but there have been exceptions for the studio’s bigger releases.
For example, the studio’s horror thriller Wolf Man opened in theaters on Jan. 17 and debuted on PVOD 18 days later, on Feb. 4. In addition, Universal’s crime thriller Drop premiered in theaters on April 11 and arrived on PVOD 18 days later, on April 29.
However, Universal’s 2024 blockbuster Wicked opened in theaters on Nov. 22, 2024, and arrived on PVOD just over five weeks later on Dec. 31.
As such, since Jurassic World Rebirth is one of Universal’s big-budget releases this year, viewers can expect a five to six week wait for the film to arrive on PVOD. If the film follows the same pattern as Wicked, that would place the digital streaming release sometime between Aug. 12 and Aug. 19, since new PVOD releases typically come out on Tuesdays.
Which Streaming Service Will Get ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ First?
Since Jurassic World Rebirth is a Universal Pictures release, the film will make its streaming video on demand debut on NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming platform first.
Universal’s releases generally arrive on Peacock three to four months after they are released in theaters.
Universal’s Wolf Man arrived on Peacock on April 18, a little over three months after the was released in theaters on Jan. 17. In addition, Drop is scheduled to be released on Peacock on July 11, exactly three months after it premiered in theaters on April 11.
However, Wicked debuted on Peacock on March 21, about four months after the film opened in theaters.
Again, since Jurassic World Rebirth is a big budget release, it’s likely that there will be a four-month window between the film’s theatrical release and Peacock release.
As such, viewers should expect the film to arrive on the streaming platform sometime around Oct. 3, since new film releases on SVOD typically happen on Fridays.
Rated PG-13, Jurassic World Rebirth is new in theaters on Wednesday.
